PRINCIPALS REPORTOnce again, the Trials are with us and Year 12 are busy with exams, study and, for some, HSC practical exams and major works. Term 3 is always a very busy time at Senior Campus and this will be no exception. We have already played and won the Ken Eggleton Cup against St Johns College. Our boys Soccer team made it to the final 8 in the state, before being beaten by a very good team from Wollongong Performing Arts High School. Our transition program has begun with student information days, parent information evening and student/parent interviews in both Delroy and South campuses. Students will make their online choices by 22 August 2018 and we will start planning for 2019.Term 3 will also be a big term for our English faculty as we will be farwelling Marie Speer and Margaret Wellington. Marie has been with us at Senior Campus for the past 3 years and her enthusiasm and dedication will be sorely missed, as she takes up a role at Junee High School. Margaret Wellington will hang up her Head Teacher boots at the end of term and head off into retirement. Margaret has been a dedicated and hardworking member of our executive and school for many years. Her knowledge of English and her positive outlook will be sorely missed. We wish Marie and Margaret happiness in their future endeavours.

Students are learning to program the Sphero robots to follow simple commands using block programming. They are learning by programming the Sphero to make a variety of basic 2D shapes. Students need to work out the angles of the shapes and adjust the roll speeds of the robot to make the 2D shapes. There has been discussions around variables such as roll surface and speed and the effect they might have on the shapes.

The beacon of Dubbo College Senior Campus glowed brightly once again last Wednesday night (8/8/18), as our CAPA team took centre-stage at the Creative Arts night. Hosted by our Arts Captains, Olivia Kirkman and Robin Hall, this year our presentations on stage featured two outstanding videos, major Dance works from Jade Bunt and Jaime Pascoe. The talent on stage abounded, and the hundred people (or so) in the crowd were once again treated to a feast of dramatics, music and movement in our showcase. On the floor, our visual artists impressed with their gallery of photography, sculpture, drawings and paintings that would comfortably mix it with the best. For the students’ efforts we are eternally grateful, for the hard work of our teachers throughout the college, and in particular to Ms Schulte, Mrs Powderly, Miss Walters, Mrs Wilson and Ms Doorey, for their leadership, guidance and coordination of the spectacular evening.
