Dove Pippin
Week beginning 18th May 2020
Well done for all the amazing Supertato creations and stories last
week! Thank you for your continued support and updates, we really
do love seeing all the different things you all get up to on Tapestry.
As always, these activities are ideas to continue learning over this
week and there are no expectations. We would encourage a bit of
reading, writing, maths and some physical activity each day if you
can. Do what you can when you can. Mostly importantly have fun,
take care and stay safe
This week we have linked our learning grid with the Key Stage 1
learning grid and we have a ‘Stem Special’ focus. Stem stands for
science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Here are some ideas for continuing your learning at home:
Sharing Stories
If you have a copy of one of the
‘If I Built a…’ stories at home at home, it would
be lovely to share this together to support this
week’s STEM learning.
Here are a couple stories to listen to online:

Hop Scotch
Create your own hop scotch and
complete it. Can you use
numbers 1-20 and change the
different starting points? (e.g
7-15 or 12-19) Can you count
backwards? Why not make
another one and add some
twirls, skips or jumps!
Engineer Design
Can you design and draw your
own playground? What would you
have? Rollercoasters? Swimming
pools? Water slides? Robot Ice
Cream Makers? Bouncy Castles?
Can you have a go at making your
playground using recycled items,
cellotape and paper?
Can you label or explain your
design to an adult?
Engineering Bridge Challenge
Can you build a bridge? Using only paper, card,
string and sticky tape, can you build a bridge of at
least 30cms that can support the weight of a toy
car or figure? What about the weight of a tin of
beans?
Wish Jar
If you have an empty jar at home, can you and your
family members write two wishes each for when the
lockdown is over? They can be anything you like such
as things you would like to do, people you would like to
see/visit or places you would like to go.
After, you could even decorate your wish jar!
Ice Experiment
Put some toys in a bowl or cup of water and
freeze them overnight. How are you going to save
the toys? Explore the ice and the changes
throughout the day. Can you explain the changes
that are happening to an adult? What might
happen if you add salt to the ice?
Subtraction Chilli Challenges
Which of these number sentences can you
calculate? You might use objects, towers, sweets
or a numberline to help you work them out or you
might even count backwards in your head. Can
you think of your own number sentences?
Mug Brownies
If you have a microwave you could try making a
mug brownie. The simple brownie recipe and
method link is below. Can you help to weigh out
the ingredients? Can you give your brownies
marks out of 10?
https://www.food.com/recipe/microwave-
chocolate-mug-brownie-349246
Fruit Ice lollies
Freeze your favourite fruits in water and make
your own ice lollies!
Writing Instructions
Can you write three instruction sentences for the
method you used? Don’t forget to use finger spaces
between words and use your sound mats.
Bottle Bowling
Recycle some old plastic bottles or cups and use them
to make an indoor or outdoor bowling lane. Give each
bottle a different number value and see if you can
recognise the numbers you knock over. Can you add
the scores together to see which family member can
score the highest?
Can you include the teen numbers?
R.E - Creation
Christians believe that God created the world and
everything in it in seven days. On the fourth day they
believe God created the sun to go in the sky during the day
time and the moon and stars to go in the sky at night time.
Can you draw a picture of day four and label it?

Egg Drop - Eggsperiment Challenge
This an eggmazing egg drop challenge for you to
show off your ingenuity design skills. Can you

that will keep an egg from breaking when it is
dropped from 3 meters in the air. You can use
different materials to project the egg and make
a package strong enough to withstand the fall.
Good Luck! Some helpful ideas are attached.
Laser Quest Maze
Can you create your own DIY Laser maze? You could
use string, wool or ribbon like you might see in a spy
film. Challenge your family to get through the maze
without touching any of the ‘lasers’. Who is the
sneakiest? Now… how can you make it harder?

doubling 3,2,5,7 and 6. Can you write the number
sentence to match the mirror doubles?
Raincloud Jar
Can you make your own raincloud? Use an empty
jar and fill it up with water. Add a layer of
shaving foam and pour several drops of food
colouring in. Can you explain what is happening?
Can you mix some colours together?
