Many people work closely
with the Board. These
activities/groups are external resources that
aresponsored by the Board and
play an important role
in life in Sandycove.
How your Association works for YOU
Following are a number of ways the Home Owners Association advocates on your
behalf. Both inside the Sandycove Acres community as well as in the Innisfil
community.
How your Association works for you
With the change in ownership of Sandycove Acres the Home Owners is part of a “Parkbridge Umbrella
Group” that represents similar communities owned and operated by Parkbridge in Ontario. This group meets regularly to discuss common issues and to compare notes. Representing the Home Owners
are;John Bicknell – President
Ted Gemmell – Vice PresidentPaul Martell – Director
Sharon Raycraft - Director

Sandycove Acres/Parkbridge Management, promote a relationship between members and the Company
which is professional, constructive and satisfying and which results in

the Emergency Preparedness Committee promote activities to aid
in the event of a community emergency.
How your Association works for you

The Candidates being introduced and just some
of the large gatheringin attendance
How your Association works for you
Television: Discussions with the Cable provider for rates and channel
selections. Due to changing Federal regulations this effort is primarily
controlled by the signal providers (Rogers,
Bell Media, Shaw) and this determines cost and what programming is available.
How your Association works for you
Home Fair: Hosts an annual exhibition of local contractors and home improvement suppliers in
the spring of each year.
How your Association works for you
ALTERNATIVE LIVING FAIR
was held in November 2013. The Fair attempts to provide alternatives to what is the next step if
living in Sandycove becomes difficult? Numerous long term care, retirement homes and home healthcare providers were at the
WHEEL to present their services. This event is held periodically and is provided so
residents can visit and speak directly to care providers in our community.

HEALTH FAIR
was held in November 2012 and was very well attended. Numerous health care providers
were at the WHEEL to present their services. The Health Fair is a regular event and is provided
so residents can visit and speak directly to care providers in our community.
Watch for announcements for a November 2014 Health Fair
Innisfil Community Health
Two groups are actively working to develop a plan for primary healthcare services in Innisfil.
The Innisfil Community Health Committee is reviewing the Town as a whole and is considering various alternatives. Extensive work has been done on this initiative that has been very worthwhile but has not yet been able to address specific issues to replace the BCHC medical offices that moved from the Sandycove Plaza in May 2011.
Innisfil Community Health
Also the North Innisfil Health Services Committee continues to work specifically for the Sandycove community.
The Home Owners fully supports both these Committees, with Sandycove representation on both Committees, as they work toward healthcare solutions for Innisfil and in particular the residents of Sandycove.
This is a slow an-going process so please watch the Newsletter, the WEB site or signup to the eBulletin Community Newsletter for current information.
The VON CANADA SMART Exercise Program provides Seniors support to improve their strength, balance and flexibility regardless of their current ability level. physical activities designed for successful aging. The Home Owners Association, through the efforts of former Board member Pat Whittaker, continues to support this valuable program.
How your Association works for you
The program is successful because there is an excellent team of volunteers. Please see Pat for more information.

Emergency Preparedness in Sandycove
The Emergency Preparedness Committee in Sandycove is comprised of interested residents. Watch for newsletter announcements in the coming
months.
Sandycove residents are covered by the Innisfil Emergency Services, through the Fire Department,
as well as the Simcoe County Emergency Services groups.
During the past year an important list of people that would need additional help in the event of an emergency was compiled and is now available to emergency services of the Fire Department and 911 Simcoe County Services.
Emergency Preparedness in Sandycove
The Emergency Preparedness Committee in Sandycove is only as strong as it’s volunteers. This is
a vitally important group that has grown under the direction of Board member Sharon Raycraft, Chair of
the Emergency Preparedness Committee.
Please see Sharon if you have any questions or
would like to help this very active group of volunteers.

Emergency Preparedness in Sandycove
In October 2013 members of the Sandycove Emergency Preparedness Committee participated in an “Emergency
Simulation Exercise” based on a tornado touching down in Sandycove Acres.
Primary participants in this exercise involved first responders such as the Red Cross, County of Simcoe
Paramedics, Town of Innisfil Works Department, Innisfil Fire Department and South Simcoe Police Services.
During this exercise, your Emergency Committee found out, first hand, how efficiently these entities can and will work together to provide assistance and care to the residents
of Sandycove Acres in the event of an emergency.
Accessibility Committee
This Accessibility Committee has been hard at work and have done an audit of the various buildings. Lots of work ahead. Volunteers have put together
some plans on how to help those in need and these have been presented to Sandycove Acres/Parkbridge
management. To help in this process or if you
have suggestions please see Board member
Pat Porth who is Chairing this committee.
