Hello parents, carers and friends of Sandy Beach Public School, This is our second last newsletter for the year with a jam-packed fortnight ahead including end of year special assemblies, Year 6 Farewell Dinner, Grade Fun Days and the final week of Intensive Swimming for Year 2. There is lots of organisation for these events and a big thank you to all staff and volunteers that help organise these activities for students. P & C Meeting At the P&C AGM meeting the 2019 committee was elected. Congratulations to all those people who have put up their hand to fill these roles next year. Amie Wallace President Chantelle Beszant Vice President Louise Peacock Vice President Ella Coward Secretary Katrina Serdiuk Treasurer The P&C also donated $5,000 from 2018 fundraising events, which will go towards a new school sign, playground equipment and for technology classes. Many thanks for all your efforts in 2018 as it is wonderful to improve our school resources with assistance from community fundraising. Excel Class Each year, Year 6 students apply for a position in the excel class for Year 7 at Woolgoolga High School. Congratulations to Mahli-Rose Lynch, Ryder James, Beau Patterson, Benjamin Warden, Saje Gravino, Chloe Featherstone and James Pasquali who have been successful in gaining a position. Computer Lessons Last week I witnessed some fantastic lessons in our computer lab. Mrs Hearn has been teaching robotics, coding and lego technics. Our school has had stem share kits on loan from the Department of Education. I am sure your child may have spoken to you about some of the equipment they have used this term. Great work to Mrs Hearn for planning these exciting lessons. Presentation Day All parents are welcome to attend this event on Wednesday, 12 th December 2018 at 10am under the COLA. Even if your child is not receiving an award, it is a great opportunity to join in our end of year celebration of success. A morning tea for parent helpers is being held after the assembly, approximately 11am in the hall. A big thank you to our volunteers who have also run scripture and ethics groups this year. Hampers Many thanks to community groups who have donated hampers which we have distributed to some of our families. It is certainly heart-warming to know we have the support of people to assist others in need.
Second hand school uniforms A callout to families who may have school uniforms that are in good condition. If your child has out-grown their uniform or heading to high school, any unwanted uniforms can be donated to our second hand clothing pool at the school office. Thank you in advance. Dental Van Visit Over the past week a free dental van visit gave check-ups for over 40 children who were eligible for this service. It was a great opportunity for families to access dental care and I would like to thank Mrs Mikaere for coordinating this service. Fun Day End of Year Fun Day is on Tuesday 18 December. All students to receive notes re organisation for their Stage group.

Year 6 have safely returned from their wonderful excursion to Sydney and Canberra. They were given an amazing experience of visiting our Nation's Capital. We would like to thank the Federal Government for making this possible and providing a wonderful contribution to our students and families. Their contribution significantly assisted and helped our school families.
