The Homecoming Dance is Saturday, September 24 from 8-10 p.m. in the Old Gym. Senior tickets cost $2 and everyone else is $5. Bring your school ID and ticket to get in. Tickets will be sold in the Main Office during Homecoming Week. You can bring someone from another school, but they must show ID and they will sign in alongside your name. We will have a DJ and the dress is semi-formal.

The Pep Rally will be Friday, September 23 during 4th block. We will introduce all fall athletes, have some fun, sing our alma mater and get into the spirit of the game. Remember, if there is any booing of other classes, there will be no more pep rallies in the future. There will be no student sign-outs after 1:50 p.m. on Friday, September 23. Please be sure to plan your appointments and dismissals accordingly. We will vote for Homecoming Queen on Thursday, September 22 during a homeroom. You will see a picture slideshow of the candidates and vote. The winner will be revealed at the football game.

Pre-ACT Testing Information All 2nd year students will be participating in Pre-ACT testing on Wednesday, September 21. Please report directly to your assigned testing location. Do NOT report to first block. Room assignments are as follows:

Junior Classical League Are you interested in Roman culture, history, sports, and language? If so, the Junior Classical League (JCL) is perfect for you. JCL explores everything about Roman art, history, language, influence, and more, and in the spring members compete in a statewide competition. JCL also looks great on college applications. The first meeting will be Thursday, September 22 at 7:45 a.m. in Mr. Blackburn's room, F113. There will be donuts, so we hope to see you there!

Car Wash – Saturday AFJROTC will be having a car wash on Saturday, September 24 from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Front Parking Lot of the School. Prices are $8 for regular car wash and $15 for wash and vacuum interior. Come out and support the Falcons!

pass you pick up in the Counseling office. Hello Parents, The Workkeys Pretest is a State requirement for all 3rd year high school students to take. The pretest will be done on their iPads. The login information has already been sent to your students but if they do not complete the test by Monday, September 19 they will have to finish it during their ILT everyday until they finish. We will let them leave ILT with about 30 minutes left in the block to go eat lunch. Please contact Mr. Verburg with any questions at 821-3406. Thank you!

The LHS BASS FISHING CLUB will hold our first meeting on Thursday, September 22 at 6 p.m. in the Little Theater to go over the club requirements and an overview of the league rules. It is important that parents attend as well especially if your parent is allowing you to use their boat or will be the “captain/supervisor" of your two person fishing team. This meeting is still open to anyone interested in joining the team/club.

Teen Talk Beginning Thursday, September 22 in Room B210 there will be a representative from Teen Talk to set up your weekly meetings.

Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Membership

$20 (cash or check payable to LTC HOSA) • HOSA is a student-led organization of future health care professionals providing opportunities for

LOCC CLUB LOCC is a part of the Lexington One Community Coalition (LOCC) District Task Force. Our club will talk, learn, and support the prevention of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse in the school and community. We will meet the first Wednesday of each month at 7:45 AM in A111. Our first meeting will be on Wednesday, September 21 in A111. If you have any questions, please email [email protected] or stop by the Health Room.

Mock Trial Team Mock Trial is sponsored by the S.C. Bar Law Related Education Division and is open to any student interested in learning about the American Judicial System and the fundamentals of litigation. The Mock Trial Team participates in a regional competition in February, with the possibility of advancing to the state competition in March. The team meets every Thursday in September to prepare for competition. The team receives a fictitious case and is assisted by a local attorney, Patrick Frawley, in preparing to argue the case. Club dues are $25 and meetings are held on Thursdays after school from 4 – 5 p.m. in Room B-210. Club Sponsor is Julie Hill ([email protected])

Debate Team

The Debate Team is a group of individuals that meet for the purpose of practicing and

competing in meaningful and competitive debate. The team will participate in a variety of

formats and will compete in several tournaments each year in and around the state of South

Carolina. Formal debate is a great skill for those that are serious minded about going into

law, politics, and business. It teaches you skills of logic and speech that will enhance your

presence in many fields. Members will research, study, and discuss many topics of interest

and that are points of contention in local, state, national, and world communities. Make

friends, have fun, and learn to win an argument! There is a $25 membership fee and club

meetings are Fridays from 3:45 – 4:30 p.m. in Room B-210. Club Sponsor is Julie Hill
