Job Description Job title Director, Fund and Portfolio Investments Team Venture Solutions Band 4 Reporting to MD Venture Solutions Management responsibility Not immediately but yes Purpose of the job To provide high level input and support across the range of Venture Capital Solutions activities. With lead responsibility for portfolio management of Venture Capital funds invested in under our Enterprise Capital Fund, VC Catalyst and regional investment programmes. Main duties Ensuring that the Bank’s position as a Limited Partner in each of the funds is well understood and well managed. The post holder will have lead responsibility for ensuring that best practice in portfolio management is shared between the established ECF and VC Catalyst programmes and the more recent Northern Powerhouse (NPIF) and Midlands Engine (MEIF) funds. Acting as a member of the fund investments team making and in some cases leading on investments under the Enterprise Capital Fund and VC Catalyst programmes. This will involve working collaboratively with the Director with lead responsibility for new fund investments, providing challenge and support. Working Closely with the Director, Regional Funding on portfolio related issues arising from the NPIF and MEIF where these need input in respect of our position as a Limited Partner. Supporting the MD, Venture Solutions on ad-hoc projects as required. Knowledge and experience Knowledge of fund structuring Knowledge of the UK and European venture capital markets Experience of SME finance issues Experience of managing Limited Partner positions within venture capital funds would be a distinct advantage although similar experience can be considered. Experience of carrying out due diligence on funds or SME investments is essential Experience of dealing with stakeholders at a senior level Experience of working collaboratively as a senior part of a larger team Experience of operating as a member of fund advisory committees is an advantage Experience of working with Public Sector programmes would also be an advantage Internal and external stakeholders BBB colleagues at all levels, senior level contacts in Local Enterprise Partnerships and Local Authorities, Venture Fund Managers and Business Angels, and senior Whitehall and European Stakeholders. Budgets / fund size / scope of investments The Business Bank is investing at a rate in excess of £200m per year into new venture funds and this figure is likely to increase. The portfolio of live fund investments within these programmes currently stands at around 50 funds Management responsibility if appropriate Once established the candidate will take on responsibility for the management and development of at least one Senior Investment Manager Key competencies/behaviours/values

Additional / desirable

Post graduate qualifications such as an MBA could be an advantage
