WELCOME
On behalf of The American Turkish Society, I would like to welcome you to the fifth of our annual gala dinners, celebrating milestones in U.S.-Turkish business relations and honoring the extraordinary business leaders who create these successful collaborations.
This year, we are commemorating Turkcell’s ten years on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and honoring Mr. Duncan L. Niederauer and Mr. Süreyya Ciliv. As the first and only Turkish company listed on the NYSE, Turkcell is one of the best representatives of Turkey’s increasingly dynamic, innovative, and globally competitive business sector. Furthermore, with New York City as the headquarters of our Society, it is a particular pleasure for us to celebrate a Turkish company’s participation in a quintessential NYC institution. Tonight’s event is made even more special by the gracious participation of Gala Co-Chairs Mr. Joseph R. Perella and Mr. Mustafa V. Koç, as captains of Wall Street and Turkish industry, respectively, and especially with Mr. Koç as our inaugural honoree in 2006 at our celebration of the joint venture of Ford Motor Company and Koç Holding.
Our tribute to U.S.-Turkish corporate partnerships continued with Citi and Sabancı Holding in 2007; GE and Doğuş Group in 2008; and The Coca-Cola Company and Anadolu Group in 2009. With business relations between our two countries growing ever stronger, we look forward to showcasing even more successes in the coming years.
The Society’s gala dinners are critical to our mission since 1949: to enhance business, diplomatic, and cultural ties between Turkey and the united States. We convene leaders and experts to inform the American public about Turkey’s current affairs, foreign policy, economy, and society. Our education programs offer lifechanging opportunities to students and teachers. We are particularly thrilled about the significant expansion in our arts and culture programs through Moon and Stars Project, which is now officially a part of The Society.
Your support tonight provides the critical resources to sustain our programs and to fuel our growing impact. We appreciate your participation and, given our shared interest in Turkey, look forward to your continuing involvement in The Society.

GALA CO-CHAIR’S MESSAGE
Dear Friends of The American Turkish Society,
It gives me great pleasure to join you in honoring Duncan Niederauer and Süreyya Ciliv, and in celebrating the relationship formed between NYSE Euronext and Turkcell more than 10 years ago.
As the first and the only Turkish company to list on NYSE Euronext, Turkcell is a pioneer. Its association with NYSE Euronext, a leading global operator of financial markets, truly exemplifies the globalization of business. Since its listing, Turkcell has grown to become the leading mobile operator in Turkey and the third largest in Europe (based on subscriber numbers). Through the merger of NYSE Group and Euronext in 2007, and the pending merger with Deutsche Boerse, NYSE Euronext also continues on its transformational path to creating the premier global exchange.
I hope you will join me in recognizing the remarkable work of Duncan Niederauer and Süreyya Ciliv, and in wishing them continued success.
Sincerely,
Joseph R. PerellaChairman & Chief Executive Officer, Perella Weinberg Partners
