PALM SUNDAY CANTATA
In the Name of the Lord arranged by Mary McDonald
“Crowds have lined the narrow street to see this man from Galilee; Just a carpenter some say, leading fools astray…
Yet many kneel to give Him praise. And in His eyes they glimpse the power that sees the heart of all men,…
And He knows the Father’s mind, He speaks the Father’s words, For He comes in the Name of the Lord.
There is Strength in the Name of the Lord,
There is Power in the Name of the Lord, There is Hope in the Name of the Lord,
Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord.
When my plans have fallen through and when my strength is nearly gone; When there’s nothing left to do but just depend on you,
And the power of your Name. And when we call upon your Name, your strength through weakness to show,
We can know the Master’s plan, extend the Master’s Hand… When we come in the Name of the Lord.
His Name will be worshipped forever; Creator, Redeemer, and King!”
Come, Ye Sinners, Poor and Needy arranged by Heather Sorenson
“Come, ye sinners, poor and needy, weak and wounded sick and sore. He will save you by His power.
I will arise and go to Jesus, He’ll embrace me in His arms. In the arms of my dear Savior, oh, there are ten thousand charms.
Come, ye sinners, poor and needy, come to Him and reconcile. Leave your burdens with the Savior, rest with Him a little while.
Come and know the Father’s mercy, come and be restored. Casting every care upon Him, leave it with the Lord!
Let your shame not make you linger, nor of goodness dream. All the good that He requires is your faith in Him!
Come, ye sinners, poor and needy, come to Him and reconcile.
Leave your burdens with the Savior. Lay down your burden and heavy load and rest a little while!
Trinity United Methodist Church Chancel Choir Presents “Hope In the Name of the Lord”
Come, ye weary, heavy laden, bruised and mangled by the fall. If you tarry, ‘till you’re better, You will never come at all.
Come, ye sinners, poor and needy! Come and reconcile!”
The Carpenter by Joseph Martin With thanks from Assaria Lutheran Church
“A carpenter from Galilee learned well His father’s trade.
The people gathered ‘round to see the wonders that He made. With thoughtful care He laid His hands upon the rugged wood.
And spoke when all His work was done, ‘It is finished…it is good’.
The Carpenter from Galilee soon moved to other art. With loving touch He healed the sick and fixed the sinner’s heart. With thoughtful care He shared His gifts with everyone He could; And spoke when all the work was done, ‘It is finished…it is good’.
The Carpenter from Galilee knew well His Father’s will;
And the people gathered ‘round to see Him climb Golgotha’s hill! With loving grace He took the nails and laid His hands to wood…
Then spoke into eternity ‘It is finished…it is good’.”
Sorrow Like His by Larry Shackley Solo - Kynan Gibson
“Oh, everybody passing by…come see if there ever was sorrow like His.
Hear Him praying in the garden, ‘Take this cup away from me’. A friend betrayed Him with a traitor’s kiss; there never was sorrow like His.
See Him standing in the judgment hall, spotless Lamb condemned to die.
With a kingly robe and a crown of thorns; Such sorrow has never been borne.
Then they took my Jesus and led Him away to a hill called Calvary. And they nailed Him there on a cruel cross for sinners like you and me.
Come on everybody…Come and see my Savior…Come and see my Jesus.
Come see if there ever was sorrow like His.”
Even the Heavens Are Weeping by Joseph Martin
Given in memory of Brandy Martin and Kristie Greene
“Even the heavens are weeping as a cross is lifted on high. The tears of the Father are falling as Jesus goes forth to die. The sky grows dark as midnight, the thunder starts to cry. Even the heavens are weeping as Jesus goes forth to die.
Even now the earth is shaking as they crucify the King.
Hills and valleys all are trembling as the hammer starts to ring. Hosannas now are silent. The crowds no longer sing.
Even now the earth is shaking as they crucify the King.
Even the heavens are weeping as they take Him from the tree. The sun in its shame hides in shadows and the birds refuse to sing.
The hands of those who loved Him prepare Him for the grave. Even the heavens are weeping as they carry the Lord away.”
He Is Not Here by Russell Nagy
“Twas at the break of day when women came with spices to annoint our Lord. And walking to the tomb, said, ‘Who will move the mighty stone that bars the door?’
Then behold, they found no stone, but a man was standing there in instead. Dazzling bright in raiment white, saying, ‘Jesus is not dead!’
He is not here! He is risen! See the tomb is empty where He lay.
He is not here! He is risen! Jesus rose on Easter Day.
When John and Peter heard the strange account, they doubted that it could be true; But running there to find the empty tomb, they suddenly believed it too.
In the place where Jesus lay sat the burial clothing of the dead. Laid aside, like death denied, for He was no longer dead!
See, the tomb is empty, He is Risen! Jesus Christ is Risen! Alleluia!
And so we do proclaim on Easter Day that Jesus is not in the grave;
But risen from the dead, just as he said, in majesty and power to reign. He is not here! He is risen! Jesus rose on Easter Day!”
The Old Rugged Cross Made the DIfference arranged by Mary McDonald
Given in memory of Beverly Stutterheim and Ron Tonne Solo - Joel Figgs
“’Twas a life filled with aimless desperation; without hope walked the shell of a man.
Then a hand with a nail print stretched downward; Just one touch, then a new life began.
And the old rugged cross made the difference in a life bound for heartache and defeat. I will praise Him forever and ever…for the cross made the difference for me!
There’s a room filled with sad, ashen faces without hope; death has wrapped them in gloom.
But at the side of a saint, there’s rejoicing… For life can’t be sealed in a tomb!
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross till my trophies at last I lay down.
I will cling to the old rugged cross and exchange it someday for a crown. For the cross made the difference for me! The old rugged cross!”
The Tomb Is Empty Now arranged by Cliff Duren
Given in memory of Eric Hutchinson Solo - Jill French
(“When I cannot see tomorrow through these tears of yesterday,
And I’m weak from climbing mountains that are standing in my way; When my heart is overshadowed by the grief that weighs me down,
I remember the tomb is empty now.
If my joy turns into sorrow and my victory to loss… If I somehow lose my focus and I can’t see past the cross…
Let my tearful eyes be lifted to that resurrected crown. O Hallelujah! The tomb is empty now.
There no longer is a stone that seals my hope within a grave.
Each regret and fear that gripped my heart has all been rolled away. Like the rising of the morning sun, let rescued ones resound…
‘Hallelujah!’ The tomb is empty now.’
There’s a Light that broke the darkness; even now it brightly shines…
Like a promise through the ages: my Redeemer is alive! Every chain that held me captive lays in pieces on the ground.
Hallelujah! The tomb is empty now.”)
There Is a Redeemer arranged by Mary McDonald Given in memory of Janice Pankratz
“There is a Redeemer…Jesus, God’s own Son;
Precious Lamb of God, Messiah, Holy One. Thank you, O my Father, for giving us Your Son,
And leaving Your Spirit till the work on earth is done.
Jesus, my Redeemer, name above all names; Precious Lamb of God, Messiah, O for sinners slain.
When I stand in glory, I will see His face; There I’ll serve my King forever in that holy place.
Thank you, O my Father, for giving us Your Son…
And leaving Your Spirit till Your work on earth is done.
There is a Redeemer!”

HOLY WEEK WORSHIP SCHEDULE
Service of Healing and Wholeness Tuesday, March 27, at 7:00 pm
This powerful worship has continued to grow as we gather to offer the brokenness of our lives to God. The
service includes communion and lighting of candles, but at the heart of our worship is praying for each other,
our community and our world.
Maundy Thursday Thursday, March 29, at 7:00 pm
Before Jesus was crucified, he gathered with his disciples for a final meal. Today that meal has become the most important ritual in the church. On Maundy Thursday we
gather around the table to commune with each other and our savior.

Ends Friday, March 30, at 3:00 pm We encourage you to sign up to participate in our annual prayer vigil in the church sanctuary. Our goal is to have someone in the sanctuary praying at all times during this time period. You may sign up for a 1/2 hour session or
