President ’s Message Dear Horizons Neighbors, This month I would like to talk to you about ming. For nearly two years we have been in repair mode at Horizons. We have been painng, which has taken a long me in part due to repair of the spalling (due to moisture in concrete) as well as cracks. We have completely re-roofed the buildings, repaired many windows, and installed a water phosphate system to lower the incidence of pinhole pipe leaks. The cooling tower base was replaced, and the sprinkler system was updated. Many smaller repairs have also been accomplished. Addional necessary repairs are forthcoming including balconies, polishing of the green metal and a new pool deck and updated barbecue area. A pressing queson at this juncture is: Do we connue uninterrupted towards compleng these addional repairs or do we take a break? The Board needs your input in making this decision. Three of many possibilies are listed below. 1. A possible break period could be Thanksgiving to New Years. We could complete washing windows in November in preparaon for the start of the holiday season. 2. We could go forward to complete repairs in uninterrupted sequence unl the needed work is done. 3. We could work to the end of the year and take off the first month of the new year. Your input would be much appreciated. Please drop a suggeson into the box in the mail room. Alternavely, you may provide Monique or Charles your ideas and preferences with your name and unit number which they will record. You may also email me directly to give me your preference at [email protected]. I will announce the tabulated totals at next month’s meeng. Coffee, cookies and homemade brownies will be present as a small incenve to hopefully augment aendance. Warm Regards, Susan M. President ’s Message

Dear Horizons Neighbors,

This month I would like to talk to you about timing.

For nearly two years we have been in repair mode at Horizons. We have been painting, which has taken a

long time in part due to repair of the spalling (due to moisture in concrete) as well as cracks. We have

completely re-roofed the buildings, repaired many windows, and installed a water phosphate system to

lower the incidence of pinhole pipe leaks. The cooling tower base was replaced, and the sprinkler system was

updated. Many smaller repairs have also been accomplished.

Additional necessary repairs are forthcoming including balconies, polishing of the green metal and a new

pool deck and updated barbecue area.

A pressing question at this juncture is: Do we continue uninterrupted towards completing these additional

repairs or do we take a break? The Board needs your input in making this decision. Three of many

possibilities are listed below.

1. A possible break period could be Thanksgiving to New Years. We could complete washing windows in

November in preparation for the start of the holiday season.

2. We could go forward to complete repairs in uninterrupted sequence until the needed work is done.

3. We could work to the end of the year and take off the first month of the new year.

Your input would be much appreciated. Please drop a suggestion into the box in the mail room. Alternatively,

you may provide Monique or Charles your ideas and preferences with your name and unit number which

they will record. You may also email me directly to give me your preference at [email protected].

I will announce the tabulated totals at next month’s meeting. Coffee, cookies and homemade brownies will

be present as a small incentive to hopefully augment attendance.

Warm Regards,

Susan M. Gorelick, President

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

When we think of a garbage disposal, we think we could put almost everything

down it. Unfortunately, not in a high rise and not here at Horizons. Please,

please, please, do NOT put these items in your garbage disposal: Potato peels,

rice, pasta, onion skins, egg shells, celery, coffee grinds, oil, bacon grease, liquid

or solid grease, or other fibrous matter. Putting these items in your garbage

disposal allows build up in the pipes and can cause a kitchen sink to backup and

cause minor or major damage to one, two, or multiple homes. Thank you for

your partnership and help to avoid backups!
