Horror
Films
Scream
Scream is an 18 rated film because of its violence. This film was made in 1996 but if it was made again now I think the age rating would lower to 15 because it’s not as
violent as new 18 rated films.
This character looks as if
she is alone which
suggests she’s
vulnerable. She is on the
phone but playing with a knife which
could foreshadow the future.
This a mid shot of the character so we can see that she is on
the phone and playing
with a knife.
The Orphanage
The Orphanage is rated at a 15 because it’s non-violent horror but with a large psychological feel to it.
We can see that from the title of
the film and this shot that
the building is the
orphanage and the
children are the
orphans.
This shot establishes the setting
so we know this
place is important
to the film.
It looks like it’s set
in the past
because of their
clothing.
Shawn Of The Dead
Shawn of the dead is rated at 15 because of the horror content and strong language used.
This long shot shows people
walking almost as if they were
zombie-like which
suggesting humans are already like
zombies.
From the title of the
film and what we see here, we know the film is
going to be about
zombies.
The Haunting In Connecticut
The Haunting In Connecticut is rated at 15 because of the psychological horror theme which is too harsh for a 12a.
This close up shows the
detail on the newspapers
which we can see a picture
of a house with titles
such as ‘hell house’ which indicates this is to do with the story of
the film.
Obviously the story
of the front of these
papers are huge news
as they are
printed on more than
one.
Attack The Block
Attack the block is rated at 15 because of the strong language, drug references & horror it contains.
From this establishing shot we can see the
film is set in London but it
doesn’t give any clues to what it
could actually be about.
We can also see that it
around winter time
because there are fireworks.
The fireworks could be
relevant to the film but
nothing suggests they
are very important from this
shot.
The Host
The Host is rated at 15 because it contains horror, violence and death.
This long shot shows a character
in their surroundings to give the feel of the
place.We can see
the character
doing something
in a lab.
The character
is a scientist of some
sort because
he is dressed in scrubs and looks like he is busy. We
could guess
that what he is
doing will be
strongly related to the film.
