Horror Institutional
Research
The Purpose of this power point is to research
the institutes/producers of horror to get further
information and ideas on how we can create
and make better our movies. This research will
help me identify the most popular producers so
that I can look more at their work and get some
more ideas for my movie from their work.
This table contains the top 25 horror movies based on the gross
collected at their box office. The table also
shows the names of the studio’s/producers
therefore it is easy for me to pick out the most
popular therefore I can research them more than the others. As we can see from the table the most
popular movies are produced by Universal
Studio’s. The next studio’s/producers are
Fox, DreamWorks, Miramax and Dimension.
Therefore these institutions I shall look at the most. However due to
my own knowledge on institutions I shall also look at Warner Bro’s
Studio’s.
Universal StudiosUniversal Studios is one of the 6 main movie
distributors in the world and has also lasted longer than any other studio outside of Hollywood. Universal
Studios was founded on April 30th 1912 by Carl Laemmle and Mark Dintenfass and has been
distributing horror movies since the 1930’s. They have released Horror Movies such as Dracula, Jaws, Psycho
and Twister.Universal studios have been a key company in the film
industry since its founding and has been loved by audiences all over the world. Universal Studios is a
good company to learn and get ideas from.
FOXFox, also known as 20th Century Fox, is again one of
the biggest production studios in the world. This institution was formed in 1915 by a theatre pioneer
named William Fox. It was actually created by bringing two film companies together, The great new york film rental firm and Fox. Fox is another studio wifely known around the world, producing some of the audience loved horror movies like:
Alien, Aliens and The Omen.
DreamWorksDreamWorks studios was founded in 1994 following the resignation of Katzenberg from The Walt Disney
Company. The studio was officially founded on October 12th 1994 with a financial backing of $33 million from 3 main partners and $500 million from the Microsoft
Co-Founder, Paul Allen. DreamWorks are mainly known for their animation work like Shrek however they have produced several successful horror movies like: War of
the Worlds which brought a huge amount of money into the company following its Box Office.
