Horror Movie Questionnaire Horror Movie Questionnaire Analysis Analysis

Question 1Question 1• 51% of the participants that

answered this questionnaire were Males which is just over half of the total amount that

completed the questionnaire.

• The rest of the 49% were Females.

• The total amount of people that answered this question were

52.

I think this is more or less an even percentage of males and

females because it is more or less evened out and will help make generalizing the data

easier. It also makes my results less biased as it is not favoured

towards one gender over another.

Question 2Question 2• The total number of

people that completed this question were 42.

• Out of the 42, 35 said they were aged from 15

to 17.

• 7 said they were aged 18 and over.

As you can see the majority of the people that

answered my questionnaire were

aged from 15 – 17. This is good for me as my

movie will be aimed at this demographic and

my movie is has a certificate rating of 15.

Question 3Question 3

Out of the 18 participants that said they did get pocket money:

• 6 said they got £10• 1 said they got £15• 3 said they got £20• 1 said £25• And the rest said £30.

Out of all the participants that answered this question, 25 of them said they did not get any income at the end of the week. Judging on the feedback this could be because if they wanted money they would have to ask their parents and their parents would

hand it straight to them or that their not old enough to work yet therefore they don’t receive any income.

Question 4Question 4• I asked the participants what their favourite type of sub-genre was so that I could

get a better understanding of what my audience will want to see. • Out of the 52 people that answered this question:• 25 said they preferred Slasher• 20 said Ghost• 3 said Zombie• And 4 said Vampire

This is good for me because I know that there will be a lot of people that will want to watch my horror movie

since it will be a Slasher one. I could also decide to

include some elements of a Ghost genre so that it

appeals to more people.

Question 5Question 5

• The total amount of people that answered this

question was 52.

• 71% of these people said they

preferred to watch a 2D horror movie instead of

3D.

Judging by the feedback, most people seemed to prefer watching 2D movies rather than the new 3D movies. When asked why the majority said it was because 3D movies were

not as good as 2D as they are very distracting from the actual storyline and are a lot more expensive to watch than 2D. 3D movies are a lot more expensive to make than

2D so it is a better option for us.

Question 6Question 6• Out of the 52

people that answered this question 20 of them said they

usually watched films in Cinema’s.

• 11 said they usually watch films that are on TV and 8 said they watch

it on DVD.

• Only 8 people of the total asked

said they watched it illegally online. This is not good

for me as it means I lose money.

This is good for me as it shows that the majority of people that watch films, watch it on cinema therefore my movie will make

more money out of it. By asking this question it will help me get a better understanding of how my demographic consumes movies.

Question 7Question 7• Out of the 52 people

that answered this question only 3 said they

would prefer to watch horror movies in the morning from 9am t0

11am.

• 4 said they would prefer to watch it in the

afternoon, around 12pm to 4pm and 5 people said

they would prefer to watch it in the evenings

from 5pm to 7pm

• The majority of the people, 40 out of the 52, that answered said they would prefer to watch horror movies in the

night, from 8pm to 3am.

This is useful for me to know as it will allow me to get a better understanding as to when my audience are able to watch horror

movies, as well as what times are best to release it out on cinema. Judging on the feedback, it is not surprising that the

majority prefer to watch horror movies in the night.

Question 8Question 8• Judging on the results

here, the majority of the people said they would be willing to pay up to £10 to watch a horror movie. 23 people out of the 52 said that they would be willing to pay up to £10. This seems reasonable as I know my demographic will not be earning a lot of money and the money that they do earn will most likely be from there parents.

• 15 out of the 52 people that answered said they would be willing to pay nothing to watch a movie. This is slightly worrying because of things such as the internet and private copy DVDs which will affect my profit.

By understanding how much my demographic will be willing to pay to watch a movie I will also get a better

understanding on how much to charge in cinema’s and how much to charge when released on DVDs to maximise my

profit.

Question 9Question 9 • Out of the 52 people that answered this, 42 said that a trailer does affect their choice to watch a film or not.

• The remaining 10 said that a trailer doesn’t

affect their decision, but when asked later why

not, they said that there are more factors that effect there choice on

whether to watch a movie or not. This could

be because of well known actors, what

friends say, what critics say and what type of

genre the movie is and where they have heard about the movie from.

By asking this question I was able to see the amount of impact a trailer would have on the audience for them to actually come and watch the movie. The majority seem to be greatly affected by the trailer therefore I will need to have an effective trailer so that it

will make my audience want to come and watch the movie.

Question 10Question 10• 35 people out of the total 52 that answered this question said that they do not tend to buy merchandise for a specific movie.

• Only 18 people out of the total amount that answered said that they buy film merchandise for a movie.

Because we now live in a more modernised society, the

amount of people buying merchandise from movies has declined thanks to things such as the internet. To stay ahead of the game I will need to use

synergy between different media platforms so that I can

maximise profit. This could include having apps for people on there phones and playing

video games.

I am aware of the fact that there isn’t a large amount of people buying merchandise so there will be no need in

making excess merchandise, so I will use supply and demand to find the right balance on what I need to make. This question allows me to understand how well people

connect with movies and what they look for.
