HI VIZ VESTS: Exhibitors will be required to wear Hi Viz Vests when leaving exhibits Pre Show and collecting Exhibits
post Show - unless you enter and exit via the fenced pathway from the Rose Terrace 1 Car Park to the Goyder
Pavilion.
Hi Viz Vests will be available at the Goyder Plaza Gate for a refundable deposit of $5.

Exhibitors are reminded to have any small tools used in presenting their entries, ready for inspection by Security at the
Goyder Plaza Entrance Gate.

CLOSING DATE OF ENTRIES

CLOSING DATE OF ENTRIES
The following conditions will strictly apply:
• All entries, whether posted, lodged in person or
completed online (if applicable) must be in the Society’s
possession at its Administration Office by 5.00 pm (CST)
on Friday 19 July 2019.
• When sending entry forms and fees by post, the onus is
on the exhibitor to ensure adequate delivery time.
• Entry forms by facsimile or email will not be accepted.
• A late entry option is available under the following
conditions:
• Late entries may only be submitted online and will be
accepted for 7 days after the official closing date (by
5.00 pm CST)
• An additional fee equivalent to three times the
standard entry fee is paid.
Absolutely no exception to the above conditions will be made
to any exhibitor under any circumstance.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF ENTRIES
Entries submitted online will be acknowledged via email.
For postal entries, if you require formal acknowledgement that
your entry has been received please include a stamped, self-
addressed envelope with your entry form.

Can be paid by credit card or cheque made payable to
RA&HS and posted with completed entry form to RA&HS –
Horticulture Section
The entry fee (GST included) for each class is:

Exhibitors whose total entry fee is $75 or more will be issued
with a full show pass.
Other exhibitors will be given admission tickets for the day/s
on which exhibits will be judged and/or removed if required,
during the show.
All exhibitors who wish to enter the Showground during the
Show will need an exhibitors pass.
PAYMENT OF FEES
When paying fees by cheque or credit card, exhibitors must
ensure that sufficient funds are available at the time of entry.
Failure to do so may result in non-acceptance of entries.
REFUNDS
No refunds of entry fees will be made after the closing date of
entries.
MEMBERSHIP
Exhibitors need not be members of the Royal Agricultural &
Horticultural Society of SA Inc (hereafter referred to as
RA&HS). , but members are entitled to a reduced entry fee.
Membership fees: Adults $170, Juniors $58 (under 18).
Membership of other Royal Show Societies does not entitle
exhibitors to a reduced rate of entry fees.

YOUR PRIVACY
If you do not want your details to be made available to other
parties, please tick the box on the entry form supplied by the
RA&HS. Your personal information will then only be used by
the RA&HS to maintain contact with you and allow us to
manage your entries. The RA&HS reserves the right to inform
prize sponsors of the details of recipients to enable
distribution of their voucher/product prizes.
Please note: by ticking the box to suppress your details,
your name will appear in the Catalogue (if applicable) but
your address will not.
GENERAL REGULATIONS
Exhibitors are reminded that the Society’s General
Regulations apply to all sections of the Show. A copy of the
General Regulations can be obtained from the Society’s
website at www.theshow.com.au or from the Society’s
Administration Office.
Exhibitors should note that the General Regulations contain a
number of provisions relevant to competitions and this
Schedule including but not limited to, offences, penalties,
prohibited drugs. As those conditions apply in addition to the
regulations contained within this schedule, Exhibitors should
familiarise themselves with the General Regulations.
SPECIAL REGULATIONS
Exhibitors are reminded that the Special Regulations
contained within this Schedule are merely supplementary to
and subject to the General Regulations.
The members of the Society’s Horticulture Committee shall
have the authority to act on behalf of the Society to take any
necessary action under these Special Regulations.
RESTRICTION ON ENTRIES
The Horticulture Committee reserves the right to limit the
number of entries in any class, if entries exceed available
exhibition space. Entry fees will be refunded in this
circumstance.
PARKING
Exhibitors that require parking access during the show to
deliver their exhibits will need to show their
Exhibitor’s List of Entries at Rose Terrace 1 Car Park
entrance to enter the car park.
After delivering their exhibits, please request an
Exit Car Park ticket from the Horticulture Supervisor prior to
the end of Staging time to exit the Car Park.

COLLECTION OF EXHIBITS
Exhibitors are reminded to bring the List of Entries as
proof of ownership when collecting Horticulture Exhibits
VEHICLE ACCESS
Please refer to “Parking” for information.
Exhibitors staging in the morning must arrive by 9.30 am.
TRANSFERS
Please ensure exhibits are entered in the correct class at the
time of entry. No exhibit will be transferred to another class
after the closing date of entries.
ENTRY PASSES
Exhibitors where necessary will be allocated an Exhibitor
pass for admission into the Royal Adelaide Showground.
Additional passes will be issued by the Supervisor if required.
Exhibitors who pay $75 or more in entry fees will receive one
10 Day Show pass.
WITHDRAWALS
All withdrawals must be made in writing and can be sent via
email to [email protected] or faxed to
(08) 8210 5222. Emailed withdrawals must include
“Withdrawal” in the subject line and the section (e.g.
Horticulture), exhibitor name, class number, exhibit number (if
known) and exhibit name (if applicable). Withdrawals must be
made at least 24 hours prior to judging.
PRIZES
Prize money will be awarded as stated. Third place prize
money may be awarded providing there are 4 or more entries
in the class.
A Society medal may be awarded to the “Most Outstanding
Exhibitor” in the Horticulture section at the Royal Adelaide
Show
• In all classes, prizes will be awarded to the
successful exhibitors.
• It is the exhibitor’s responsibility to collect awarded
prize cards from their exhibit at the time of removal.
• Prize ribbons for 1st and 2nd place winners.
• Prize ribbons for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in
Bonsai and Floral Art Classes.
• Sashes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in the
Scarecrow Competition, Schools Kitchen Garden,
Floristry & TAFE SA Floristry.
• Prize Cards will be provided for all place winners.
• Participation Certificates will be provided to all
exhibitors in the Scarecrow Competition and Junior
& Teenage Sections.
• RA&HS Prize Sashes will be awarded to all
Champions, Best Feature Garden and Most
Successful Exhibitors.
BANKSIAN MEDAL
This award is offered by the Royal Horticulture Society,
England for a display of horticultural excellence.
PAYMENT OF PRIZE MONEY
All prize money won during the Royal Adelaide Show will be
paid by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) only.
PRIZE MONEY WILL BE PAID AT THE END OF OCTOBER.
Any trophy, prize or prize money not claimed by 11 December
of the current year. shall be deemed forfeited by the exhibitor
and the RA&HS shall no longer be liable to pay or provide the
prize.
PRIZE MONEY AND GST
Prize money as stated in the Prize Schedule does not include
GST.
The prize money which we pay to successful exhibitors
depends on information provided to us. If you confirm that you
are GST registered and provide your Australian Business
Number (ABN), we will pay the appropriate prize money plus
10% GST. We will provide you with a Recipient Created Tax
Invoice which you will need to submit to the Australian
Taxation Office.
If you confirm you are registered for GST, in entering the
competition, you acknowledge your agreement to the
following:
• You will not issue a tax invoice to the RA&HS in respect
to prize money received;
• You will notify the RA&HS if you cease to be registered
for GST.
If you provide your Australian Business Number but are not
registered for GST, we will pay the prize money as detailed in
the Prize Schedule without reference to the GST.
If you confirm you are entering as part of a private
recreational pursuit or hobby, we will pay the prize money as
detailed in the Prize Schedule without reference to GST.
IMPORTANT
It is important that you either:
• Confirm you are entering as part of a private recreational
pursuit or hobby, or
• Confirm you are entering as a GST registered business
and supply your ABN
Failure to do either of the above will cause the RA&HS to
withhold 48.5% of your prize money in accordance with
Australian tax legislation.
The RA&HS is not a tax consultant and therefore
assumes no liability for actions taken as a result of these
guidelines. In any instances where an entrant or sponsor
is uncertain of the tax implications of their involvement,
they should consult their own accountant or tax advisor.
The Society makes every endeavour to ensure all prizes
listed are accurate at the time of printing. Should a prize
(cash, voucher, product, trophy) be withdrawn by a
sponsor subsequent to printing, the Society will pay prize
money as stated above. It is the responsibility of the prize
winner to follow-up with the Society any sponsored prize
(cash, voucher, product, trophy) they believe they are
entitled to prior to 11 December in the year of the prize
being awarded. The Society will not follow-up prize
sponsors after this date or review any prizes that may
have been incorrectly awarded.

EXHIBITS
• Any exhibit not displaying the exhibitor’s number at the
commencement of the judging cannot be judged.
• When plants and flowers are individually displayed, plant
name must be affixed to the exhibit. Cards for this
purpose will be supplied by the Society and can be
obtained from the hall supervisor.
• Plants and flowers should be free from pests and
diseases at the time of judging.
• No exhibitor will be allowed to remain in the hall during judging.
• The Society will under no circumstance hold itself responsible for any loss, damage to, or miss-delivery of any exhibit.
• On the day of staging, please bring your “List of Entries” and hand to the Supervisor for checking.
JUDGING
The judge’s decision will be final, and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into. In all classes, where a number of
species and/or cultivars are called for, judges will take into account the difficulties associated with their cultivation.
Judges are empowered to withhold prizes in any class where exhibits are below acceptable standard. They may award second
prize in lieu of first.
No exhibitor or exhibitor’s agent shall act as a judge or steward in a class in which he/she exhibits.
MOST SUCCESSFUL EXHIBITOR AWARDS
Points to be allocated as follows:
First, 5 points; second, 3 points; third, 1 point.
DEFINITIONS
Novice exhibitor - A novice exhibitor is one who has not won three First Prizes at any Royal Show in the section in which that
exhibitor is competing.
Bloom - one flower displayed on a single stem
Cut - Two or more flowers or florets displayed on a single stem or a stem with secondary branches.
PLANTS IN CONTAINERS
• The size of the containers is set out in the schedule.
• A maximum space of 500mm x 500mm will be allocated per entry.
• Exhibitors to supply own saucer. Exhibits without saucers will not be watered.
• Plants must be the bona-fide property of the exhibitor for a minimum of 40 days prior the close of entries.
• Every plant must be established in the container in which it is shown, and be free from pests and disease at the time of
judging.

The Schools Kitchen Garden competition is open to all
Kindergartens and Primary Schools with kitchen gardens.
Entries can be from the school or individual class groups.
All produce must be grown in the kindergarten/school's
vegetable garden.
Please Note: Preparation and staging must be done by the
Students, either at school prior to the day or at the Show on
the day of judging.

SCARECROW COMPETITION
The Scarecrow Competition is open to all Kindergarten and
Primary School Students wishing to represent their school as
a group/class entry.
Due to limited display space, a limit of 10 entries (overall)
per Primary School/Kindergarten into the Scarecrow
Competition will be introduced in 2019.
Please note: Judges will be looking for fresh, new
Scarecrow designs each year rather than just last
year’s Scarecrow design re-entered.
Naturally the student's involvement in their design and
creation is essential.
Prize money will be awarded to the student's nominated
Kindergarten or Primary school.
• Scarecrows need to be self-supporting and must
have a strong support base.
• Staging can be completed on site under the
supervision of a recognised teacher.
• The space allowed for each exhibit is 'life size'
approx. 1.2m sq.
• The judges will take into consideration the following:
Artistic merit, originality, workmanship, appropriate to
theme and attention to detail.
• Please do not include signs or any item on the
Scarecrow which could identify the Exhibitor
prior to Judging.

GOVERNORS CHOICE- SPECIAL AWARD
His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le AO,
Governor of South Australia and Mrs Le will select a
Scarecrow from all the entries on show to assume official
Scarecrow duties in the Government House Vegetable patch
for a period of three months.
The Scarecrow will be a feature attraction for members of the
public at the Government House Open Day in November.
The Kindergarten or Primary School students who submit the
chosen Scarecrow will be invited to Government House to
see the Scarecrow in position, meet His Excellency
the Governor and Mrs Le and tour the State Rooms of
Government House.

FLORAL ART
Entries will be judged using Principles and Elements from the
Australian Floral Art Association Manual.
All staged work to be dismantled as soon as possible after
Show. (Please refer to Staging, Judging and Removal
timetable)
Work not collected after this time is at the exhibitor's risk.
All receipts for claiming flower allowance (inclusive of
Business name and ABN number) to be presented to the
Competitive Section Supervisor (Jon Hall) for approval for
reimbursement during the Show. Payment will be made post
Show.
Conditions of Entry:
1. A limit of two entries in each class per person.
2. All competitive work must be the unaided work of the
competitor. Please do not discuss exhibits prior to judging.
3. When exhibitors have completed their own work they are to
leave the exhibition area.
4. An exhibit is plant material with or without accessories and
must be staged within the area specified in the show
schedule. Props and drapes are permitted.
5. Plant material should predominate over all other
components used. Plant material to last for the duration of the
show.
6. Use of artificial or silk plant material is not allowed.
7. No spray painting permitted indoors or in vicinity of venue.
8. All entries are at competitors own risk.

NARCISSUS (DAFFODILS)
Note: Daffodils shall be shown with two leaves.
Accepted Divisions.
1. TRUMPET DAFFODILS - One flower to stem. Trumpet or
corona is as long as or longer than perianth segments.
2. LARGE CUPPED DAFFODILS – One flower to stem. Cup
or corona is more than one third, but less than equal to the
length of the perianth.
3. SMALL CUPPED DAFFODILS – One flower to stem. Cup
or corona not more than one third the length of the perianth
segment.
4. DOUBLE DAFFODILS – No cup, trumpet or corona visible
as such. Two distinct types of petals may be noted, usually
twisted and intermingled. Flower may be one colour or
bicoloured and double or semi double in the corona and/or
perianth.
5. TRIANDRUS HYBRIDS – Characteristics of Narcissus
triandrus clearly evident. Flowers nodding, numbering one or
more, white or yellow. Corona usually bowl shaped, perianth
reflexed, of silky texture.
6. CYCLAMINEUS HYBRIDS – Characteristics of Narcissus
cyclamineus clearly evident. Flowers nodding, single, yellow
with narrow corona and reflexed perianth.
7. JONQUILLA HYBRIDS – Characteristics of any of the
Narcissus jonquilla group clearly evident. Flowers numbering
one or more with short cup and flat perianth, sometimes
fragrant.
8. TAZETTA HYBRIDS – Characteristics of any of the
Narcissus tazetta group clearly evident. Small, very fragrant
flowers numbering one or more with very short cup and
rounded flat perianth.
9. POETICUS HYBRIDS – Characteristics of the Narcissus
poeticus group without a mixture of any other. One flower to
stem, with glistening white perianth and very small flat cup,
usually yellow or green with red edge.

10. SPECIES AND WILD FORMS AND HYBRIDS – Includes
all Narcissus presumed to have originated in the wild, as
opposed to cultivars and garden varieties.
11. SPLIT CORONAS – Corona split for at least one third of
its length.
12. MISCELLANEOUS – Includes cultivars and varieties of
garden origin not covered in any other Division.
EXHIBIT REQUIREMENTS
1. All divisional exhibits are required to conform with the
above classifications.
2. Narcissus (Daffodils) shall be shown with Narcissus
(Daffodils) foliage.
3. Lily (Arum) stem may be used in staging and may be
visible for a maximum of 25mm above the neck of the
container and may be used to support the name card.
4. All seedlings exhibited that were raised from seed by the
exhibitor must have the name card marked with the seedling
number and the words “raised by the exhibitor”.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
HAZARD REPORTING Competitors must notify the Area/Pavilion Supervisor or the Venue Management Office immediately of any hazards detected. Hazards are any situation which has the potential to cause: 1. Injury, illness or death to people or animals either
immediately or in the future 2. Damage or destruction to property INCIDENT REPORTING Competitors must notify the Area/Pavilion Supervisor or the Venue Management Office immediately an incident occurs which has resulted in: 1. The injury, illness or death of any person or animal 2. The damage, destruction or loss of property 3. A near miss incident that could have resulted in the
consequences listed in 1 and 2 WASTE DISPOSAL All waste including liquids must be disposed of responsibly and placed in the appropriate bin or receptacle. Storm drains must not be used for the disposal of any waste. HAZARD MINIMISATION All areas must be kept in a clean and tidy order with clearly defined and available access and exit routes at all times. Build-up of combustible waste must be avoided. Care must be taken to minimise trip hazards and obstacles that people may walk into. HAZARDOUS MATERIALS The RA&HS are to be advised of all hazardous materials that are brought onto the Showground. Appropriate warning signs and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) will need to be provided before allowing these materials on site. SDS are to be available onsite and provided immediately upon request by an RA&HS Representative. MEDIA COMMENTS Any public comment on emergencies, incidents or other venue matters should only come from the RA&HS. The key media spokesperson for the RA&HS is the Marketing Manager. DUTY OF CARE It is important to ensure your own safety and that of all other site personnel, visitors and general public at the Adelaide Showground. All competitors have a “Duty of Care” to avoid exposing themselves or other people to situations which could lead to injury. This “Duty of Care” extends to the prevention of damage to property.
LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY 1. Release
Entry to and remaining on the Showground is entirely at the risk of the Exhibitor and to the maximum extent permitted by law, the Exhibitor releases the Society (which term includes in this clause the Society’s officers, employees, members and agents), from all claims and demands of every kind resulting from any accident, damage or injury occurring at the Showground, and without limitation, the Exhibitor acknowledges:
a) the Society has no responsibility or liability for any loss, damage or injury to or caused by any Exhibit;
b) the Society has no responsibility or liability for any loss, damage or injury to or caused by any Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees and Agents;
c) the Society has no responsibility or liability for any loss, damage or injury to a Motor Vehicle or any of its contents whilst it is located on the Showground; and
d) without limiting Regulations 1 (a) and 1 (b) above, the Society has no responsibility or liability for any loss, damage or injury resulting from the sale, treatment, failure to treat, destruction, disposal or other dealing with any Exhibit, or for loss, damage or injury to any personal belongings, equipment or property brought onto the Showground.

Indemnity To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Exhibitor must indemnify and keep indemnified the Society and its officers, employees, members and agents from and against all actions, claims, demands, losses, damages, costs, expenses and liabilities including without limitation, consequential loss and loss of profits for which the Society is or may be or become liable in respect of or arising from:
a) loss, damage or injury to any person in connection with the Exhibit or the relevant Event;
b) without limiting Regulation 2(a), loss, damage or injury to any other Exhibit or Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees, Agents, or to the property of the Society, or its members, or to the general public, caused or contributed to or by any act or omission of an Exhibit of the Exhibitor or by the Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees or Agents; and
c) without limiting Regulation 2(a), loss, damage or injury to the Exhibit, or the Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees, or Agents caused or contributed by an act or omission of an Exhibit of the Exhibitor or by the transportation, feeding or housing of an Exhibit of the Exhibitor.

3. Removal from Showground Without prejudice to any other provision in these Regulations, where the Society, its officers, employees, members or agents removes an Exhibit, or causes an Exhibit to be removed from the Showground, the Exhibit is removed or caused to be removed entirely at the risk of the Exhibitor. The person or persons removing the Exhibit will be deemed to be the agent of the Exhibitor, and his or her acts and omissions will be deemed to be the acts and omissions of the Exhibitor.
4. Insurance The Society will arrange Animal Exhibitors Public Liability insurance cover for all Exhibitors of Exhibits being animals. The Exhibitor is bound by the terms and conditions of this insurance and by Statutory Duties as defined under the Insurance Contracts Act (1984). Details of the Animal Exhibitors Public Liability insurance are set out in the Relevant Schedule. The Society does not insure first party loss, damage or injury to Exhibits, and Exhibitors should consider purchasing insurance if required.
5. Personal effects The Society has no responsibility or liability for any loss or damage caused to personal belongings, equipment or property which is brought onto the Showground by an Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees or Agents.
EMERGENCY INFORMATION Emergency information and Emergency Assembly Points for the various animal pavilions and stables will be included with Exhibitor Entry Detail Returns and Notice to Exhibitor notifications. Competitors should be familiar with these plans. FIRST AID During the Royal Adelaide Show, St John provides First Aid Services but it is suggested that competitors have a basic First Aid kit for minor injuries. St John is not in attendance after public hours. For emergency contact details, check Notice Boards for onsite assistance or dial 000 for a medical emergency. RA&HS EMERGENCY FACILITIES Firefighting and other emergency equipment must not be removed or used for any other purpose. Missing or unserviceable equipment should be reported to the Venue Management Office immediately. SMOKING Smoking is only permitted in designated locations. The Royal Adelaide Show is a smoke free event.
TRAFFIC CONTROL The RA&HS Traffic Control Policy imposes speed restrictions within the Showground. For the duration of the Royal Adelaide Show the speed limit is 10 kph on the grounds and 8 kph inside buildings The use of vehicles inside the Showground is closely managed during the Royal Adelaide Show. Conditions of entry will be provided with the issue of Vehicle Entry Permits. ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT 1. All extension cords and electrical appliances should be
tested and tagged in accordance with current legislation as per Australian Standards 3760.
2. Removal of all untagged electrical equipment will be required or costs levied to exhibitors regarding any equipment without a current inspection tag.
3. Power boards with overload protection can only be used at the discretion of the Venue Manager.
4. The use of double adaptors is strictly prohibited. 5. Appliances and power cables must not be used or laid
through any area that may become wet. 6. Power cables must not be laid across walkways, paths,
roads or any area where damage could occur to the cable.
7. Bar (resistance) heaters are strictly prohibited. 8. Light sockets must not be used for any other purpose 9. In external areas only, extension leads that are Heavy
Duty Rated may be used.
