Welcome ...Welcome ...Welcome ... Welcome to the June issue of our monthly staff

newsletter Team Talk, where we aim to keep you up to date with what’s going on in and around the Hospice!

Join us at our Summer Garden Party!

A fun family afternoon is promised at our charity garden party on Sunday 1 July.

Our beautiful grounds are the perfect setting for our Garden Party, which is back by popular demand after a two year hiatus – and this year it’s set to be bigger and better than ever.

As well as delicious cream teas and a whole host of stalls, our younger guests will be able to enjoy a bouncy castle, face painting, crafts and games – we’ve even got a good old fashioned coconut shy!

We’re also hoping to create a buzz with our ‘Bugs and Butterflies’ fancy dress competition and we’ve got some fantastic prizes lined up for the winning costumes. Find out more here

Last chance for Summer Superdraw

Our Summer Garden Party will be the very last chance to buy a ticket for this Summer’s Superdraw!

Thank you to everyone who has bought and sold tickets over the past few weeks, we really appreciate your support!

If you’d like to see the winning tickets being drawn out, please join us at the Garden Party at 2.45pm, where the lucky winners will be announced!

Volunteers Week 2018—we celebrated in style!

This important week gives us the opportunity to say a huge thank you to all our fantastic volunteers – over 400 of them – who generously give up their time to support Lindsey Lodge Hospice. In celebration of Volunteers’ Week we arranged some very special treats and activities to honour our volunteers…

A little gift to say thank you Every one of our volunteers received a thank you card which

has been specially designed for them by renowned artist Dennis Nash, who is also one of our patients, with a handwritten message from our Chief Executive Karen Griffiths. They also received a lovely little pin badge as a memento.

Discount on a cuppa all week: Thanks to all the big hearted local organisations who invited our volunteers for a free cuppa all week.

Long Service Lunch – 1 June: Congratulations to everyone who attended our special lunch to celebrate the long service of all the volunteers who have supported us for 15 years. Volunteer Forum – 4 June: This month, our complementary therapy co-ordinator was on hand to talk about his work and offer some

massage practice to anyone who needed a little TLC. Volunteer Walk – 5 June: Our volunteers enjoyed a walk around one of North Lincolnshire’s popular routes – all followed by a pub lunch. Bake-off – 6 June: Our Hospice staff baked cupcakes for volunteers to judge. Congratulations to the winners! All cakes were then shared around our shops for our volunteers to enjoy. Art Workshop – 7 June: New members were welcomed to our existing volunteer group to come along and learn a new skill or rediscover an old one! Here are just a few photos from this special week, there are more on our website here

NewsNewsNews Gearing up for Glow Walk on 6 July

Over 250 people have signed up for our 30,000 step Glow Walk 2018 on Friday 6 July and many of them have been joining us for training walks to prepare them for the big event.

People of all ages and abilities have signed up. Some are walking in memory of a loved one, while others just enjoy the fun and challenge of it all.

Whatever their reason for supporting us we’re encouraging them to step up and glow to the challenge and help us make our Glow Walk 2018 our most successful charity walk ever!

On the night, there will be a party atmosphere to kick start the event, teamed with a warm up hosted by Penny Golding, the Hospice’s very own Glow Vibes instructor. There will also be opportunity on the night to buy flashing bunny ears and glow sticks.

Walkers will be able to carry a lantern during the last stretch of the walk and place it in the grounds of the Hospice on their return – a great way to show that our hearts still glow when we remember our loved ones.

There’s still time to sign up! Please click here for more information.

Delicious Charity Tea at The Courtyard Thank you to the organisers,

helpers and everyone who attended the Charity Tea at The Courtyard event for Lindsey Lodge Hospice.

So much effort goes into these occasions and everything was delicious – thank you!

Well done Mark!

Our amazing supporter Mark Morris has completed the UK’s most iconic ultra-marathon, running 69 stunning miles through historic Hadrian’s Wall country, from Carlisle to Newcastle in The Wall 2018 – and it only took him 17 hours

and 4 minutes! What an amazing individual – and we’re so proud of him and grateful for his support. But it doesn’t stop there! Next up is the Great North Run in September...

Please support him by donating at: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/mark-morris22

His year eleven students at Oasis Academy Immingham did just that! They raised £68.70 to say thanks for being such a great teacher!
