Government of India has announced a slew of public construction projects in roads,
railways, metro rail, mining, irrigation, power, smart cities, etc. These are the sectors of
interest for the Indian Construction industry which after a down turn in 2012 has bounced
back to earlier levels in 2016-17. There are issues around the impact of formalisation of
the economy initiatives like demonetisation, GST due to implementation challenges.
Export levels and absence of large scale private investments are some areas of concern.
India is likely to be third largest economy in the world on nominal GDP basis.
The CII ICEMA report 2017 – Building India@75 was launched at Excon 2017 which
addresses these issues and the all aspects facing the Indian Construction Equipment (ICE)
industry.
