OVENIA Hostelling International SloveniaHostelling International Slovenia (HI Slovenia) is the only national representative of Slovenia in the International Youth Hostel Federation (Hostelling International – HI). HI is a non-governmental and non-profit organization active in about 90 countries in the world. The organization works closely together with UNESCO (United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization), WTO (World Tourism Organization) and other important international organization – also it was proclaimed the sixth largest organization that offers overnighting. With 4 million members it is one of the largest youth organizations in the world and is the only network of youth hostels with about 4.000 objects for spending the night, 1.5 million beds and 30-40 overnight stays annually.

HI has high standards for youth hostels, based on the treatment of the guests, security, cleanliness and privacy. But it is not its only role. Since it was established in 1932 it encourages young people for better intercultural understanding through informal education and peace, global friendship and environmentalism. The international organization, with a strong support of its national members, it offers interaction among youth of various nationalities and cultures, exchange of experience, getting to know their peers and after all themselves.

For this the organization has international programs for youth, above all the ones with lesser chances, through which we spread the mission of Hostelling International, which remained the same since 1932:

To promote the education of all young people of all nations, but especially young people of limited means, by encouraging in them a greater knowledge, love and care of the countryside and an appreciation of the cultural values of towns and cities in all parts of the world, and as ancillary thereto, to provide hostels or other accommodation in which there shall be no distinctions of race, nationality, colour, religion, sex, class or political opinions and thereby to develop a better understanding of their fellow men, both at home and abroad.

PZS, with its 48 hostels around Slovenia, ensures safe, budget friendly and quality boarding for all types of groups. This includes the educational field trips with various themes (history, art or language courses) as well as extracurricular activities for schools, students, sporting and other groups – or simply friends who want a joint active holiday.

Hostel Ajdovščina is located in Sport park Pale on the outskirts of town, just a few minute’s walking distance from the centre and only a kilometre away from the bus stop. The hostel has three 4-bedded rooms, one 6-bedded room and one 8-bedded room, along with the huge 24-bedded room. All together there are 50 beds in the hostel. Apart from bed, we also offer our guests breakfast. All rooms and the online corner have free of charge internet connection.

Hostel Ajdovščina welcomes all and is the best place for conferences, events, exhibitions and meetings thanks to our facilities, which include a technically equipped concert and conference hall, a gallery, a multipurpose room, a class room and an outdoor stage. Apart from before mentioned, the hostel also offers discounts for open air swimming pool and inside swimming pool, sauna, fitness club, tennis courts and bike rental.

Hostel Ajdovščina is located in sport park Pale on the outskirts of town Ajdovščina. It is surrounded by nature with many interesting sport facilities and tells the story of the legacy of the land. Among the perfect mixture of cultural and natural heritage there’s a meeting place that joins traditional and mundane, sporting and social, cultural and creative. The object has an interesting architecture with many wood or stone details and a traditional Vipavian roof. The interior is also – despite the modern approach – warm, bright and cosy, for the predominating material remains wood.

Zavod za šport Ajdovščina Zavod za šport Ajdovščina is a public institution founded by municipality of Ajdovščina with the purpose to develop the sport in the municipality and its surrounding. The municipality also manages the facilities as well as organizes the activities for the youth.

The top priority are therefore sporting activates as well as youth activities, which make widely available and price friendly quality programme for the general population. The main motto is “healthy spirit in a healthy body,” with which they wish to bring recreation and quality spare time to the youth, because regular exercises and spare time activities have a positive effect on the psychophysical abilities, which is – among other things also desirable to the whole society.

The mission of Zavod za Šport Ajdovščina is to provide sport facilities and sport programes for recreation and quality spending of spare time for all generations and all target groups of users.

A walk around the town of AjdovščinaVisiting the remains of the Edlin’s castle and Roman Castra, the Gallery of Pilon, the Roman Spa and the town market, the town museum with the archaeological collection of the Roman Castra and a fosil collection from the area around the town.

Visit of the village Vipavski KrižThe village of Vipavski Križ has a defensive wall around it, for the settlement used to be a fortification. We suggest you walk down narrow streets and see the ruins of the Attems’ castle with four towers and a wine cellar, see the church of St. Francis Assisi with the probably largest baroque painting in Slovenia – The Glory of the Holy Trinity; and you should not leave without visiting the monastery of the Capuchin where Janez Svetokriški (John of the Holy Cross) lived and preached. The monastery also has an old and rich library.
