Blossom Festival in the Lana area

02/04/2011 - 17/04/2011Spring takes over the valley, buds turn into apple blossoms and many orchards areturning into a sea of pink and white blossoms – it's the time of the year when Lanacelebrates the "Blossom Days". For two weeks the apple blossoms do not only create a picturesque landscape forlovely spring walks but also provide the motivation for a number of events such as abiking tour through the blooming Etsch Valley, where after a night of frost you canadmire apple blossoms in an ice coat – an unforgettable sparkly phenomenon, oryou can visit a traditional farm and sample a light indigenous Vernatsch wine. Thefarmer's mile of indulgence offers fine local specialities such as bacon, cheese,herbs, wine and spirits. Along with the farmers offering their local produce at themarket stalls in the pedestrian area, Am Gries, there are also gourmet stalls thatgive an especially festive character to this market. Traditional plates of the SouthTyrolean kitchen are refined and newly interpreted. Dishes range from home-madestuffed pasta (Schlutzkrapfen) to dumpling variations, barley soup and the wellloved home-made farmer’s crullers.

08/05/2011 - 29/05/2011Swing, Blues, Dixie, Latin, Brass and Rock music, visual arts and literature, musicalcabaret and interactive theatre – in the weeks of the LanaLive Festival Lana and itssurroundings offer numerous top-class international and local cultural events.

The settings range from traditional farms to open air venues and even to castles.During the LanaLive Festival there is a cultural event around every corner. Top international acts along with well-known local artists entertain the crowd.Highlights of recent years include the performances of Hugo Strasser, Max Greger,Klaus Doldinger and Barbara Dennerlein. A shady outdoor dining area, a flowering orchard, the town hall square or an oldmanor – any place can be a stage for the artists.LanaLive has become a cultural meeting point for artists of various genres. Thisevent in the merry month of May is pure culture in South Tyrol for every taste.

Open Air Theatre Lana

Theatre rules in Lana during the months of July and August: It is time for the tradi-tional Open-Air Theatre. Year after year the Lana Open-Air Theatre Associationenthuses a large audience with plays who are known throughout the South TyroleanCultural Summer for their original choice of topics. In the past summer months theGaul Canyon was the stage for the premiere of two plays by South Tyrolean authors:2009 "Die Alpträumer" (Peoples’ nightmares) by Hermann Staffler and "Tutres" byKurt Lanthaler. In this way Lana would like to set an example and promote highquality artistic and literary work in South Tyrol. This appeals to the audience andevery year spectators from the whole province come to the unique, romantic settingin the Gaul Canyon that promises an exceptional sensual experience.

Kids’ summer programme

03/07/2011 - 04/09/2011Holidaying with the family – that also means balancing everyone’s needs and wis-hes. In Lana and its surroundings this is no problem: The extensive summer pro-gramme for kids provides entertainment and action for the little ones, so Mom andDad can also enjoy an afternoon to themselves. The children can play "Cowboys &Indians“, take a Lama Trekking tour or partake in making a bonfire and a torchlightprocession. Throughout the months of July and August there is a varied programmefor kids of all ages on offer in and around Lana. Experienced holiday reps cater for the children from Monday to Saturday. The littleexplorers and adventurers will enjoy children's rafting trips and expeditions in thewoods. There are activities for those who love handicrafts as well as for those whoenjoy sports. A special treat are the theme afternoons where the children can testtheir acting skills by playing various roles.

„Keschtnriggl“ – Chestnut Days (a green event)

15/10/2011 - 06/11/2011For two weeks every year in October in Völlan and Tisens it's all about chestnuts.The chestnut days offer a multitude of culinary highlights as well as South Tyroleancustoms, cultural events and enjoyable entertainment.The event series "Keschtnriggl" is named after a traditional South Tyrolean utensil.After the chestnuts are roasted on open fire, they are tossed around in the„Keschtnriggl” and thus easily come out of their husk. Local farmer’s women orga-nise so called "Törggele" feasts, where chestnut filled crullers and other delicaciesare offered. On hikes through the bright fall landscape guests can admire theancient chestnut orchards and see where the fruit grows. Enjoying the chestnutsand many chestnut delicacies is of course the highlight of the season. Numerousrestaurants are therefore offering special chestnut menus during this time. Lastyear this event was organised as a green event for the first time. It is a local event,where regional products play a central role and thus sensitivity for environmentalissues is especially close to our hearts. Nature baths Gargazon

In May 2010 the new Nature baths in Gargazon were opened to the public. It is thefirst public bath in the Western part of South Tyrol with a total expanse of water ofapprox. 2,200 m². About half of that area is dedicated to swimming, where you canenjoy bathing fun in natural chlorine-free water. Swimmers and nature lovers alikecan enjoy the new nature baths. In contrast to conventional pools, natural bathshave to be understood as eco-systems where processes occur that are quite similarto what happens in a natural lake or pond. A nature bath is an artificially createdexpanse of water that is still very close to nature. The swimming area is open tovisitors while the regeneration zone purifies the water. Lana and its surroundings offer a greatcamping experience on an area ofalmost 14 acres, ranging from naturecamping to comfort camping connectedto a hotel, but always in a welcoming,

familial atmosphere. During the monthsof July and August Lana offers a greatand diverse children's programme.

Together with our holiday reps the little

ones enjoy numerous holiday adventu-res. You have the choice between twocamping sites in Lana and two in Vîllan.

The climatic health resort Völlan loca-ted at an elevation of 700 m above sealevel, offers a truly natural campingexperience. The two terraced sites aresituated on a hill with a unique view

into the Etsch Valley. The small villagecentre offers a shop and a number ofrestaurants as well as a Farmer'sMuseum. Vîllan is a starting point fornumerous hikes, e. g. to St. Hippolyt or

along the South Tyrolean Chestnutadventure trail. With the bus you canreach Lana in a short period of time.

Lana is a large village with a distincttown character. The locations are idyllicamid the green of apple orchards, butthey are also well connected with publictransport and close to the cycling path.It takes only a few minutes to reach thebus stop for Meran or the train station

Burgstall/Lana, where the train toBozen departs. At the train station youcan also enter the bike path connectingMeran and Bozen. Lana's historic pede-strian area "Am Gries" is also locatedonly 3 km from the camping sites. Morethan 30 shops and cosy cafÇs invite you

to take a stroll and numerous restau-rants offer culinary delights. The cablecar takes you either to the VigiljochMountain or into the rustic Ulten Valley,both excellent hiking areas.
