• According to local regulations.

Water qualityHeatingwater:• The European Standard EN 14868 and the

Directive VDI 2035 must be observed. In particular, attention must be paid to the fol-lowingstipulations:

• Hovalboilersandcalorifiersaredesignedforheatingplantswithoutsignificantoxygenintake (plant type I according to EN 14868).

• Plants with - continuous oxygen intake (e.g. under-

floor heating systems without diffusion proof plastic piping) or

- intermittent oxygen intake (e.g. where frequentrefillingisnecessary)

mustbeequippedwithseparate circuits.

• Treated heating water must be tested at least 1x yearly, according to the inhibitor manufacturer‘sinstructions,morefrequenttesting may be necessary.

• Arefillingisnotnecessaryifthequalityofthe heating water in existing installations (e.g. exchange of boiler) conforms to VDI 2035.TheDirectiveVDI2035appliesequal-ly to the replacement water.

• New and if applicable existing installations mustbeadequatelycleanedandflushedbefore being recharged! The boiler may only befilledaftertheheatingsystemhasbeenflushed.

• Partsoftheboiler/thecalorifierwhichhavecontact with water are made of ferrous ma-terials and stainless steel.

• On account of the danger of stress cracking corrosion in the parts made of stainless steel the chloride, nitrate and sulfate con-tents of the heating water must not exceed 50 mg/l in total.

• The pH value of the heating water should lie between 8,3 and 9,5 after 6 - 12 weeks of heating operation.

Filling and replacement water:• For a plant using Hoval boilers untreated

drink ing water is generally best suited as fillingandreplacementwater.However,thequalityoftheuntreateddrinkingwatermustatleastfulfilthestandardsetinVDI2035orbe desalinated and/or be treated with inhibi-tors. The stipulations of EN 14868 must be observed.

• In order to maintain a high level of boiler ef ficiency and to avoid overheating of the heat ing surfaces the values given in the ta ble should not be exceeded (dependent on boil er performance ratings - for multi-boiler plants rating of smallest boiler applies - and on the water content of the plant).

• The total amount of filling and replacement water which is used throughout the total ser-vice life of the boiler must not exceed three times the water capacity of the plant.

• If frost protection agent is being used, please contact the Hoval company to ask for the separate engineering sheet.

Heating installationInstallation room• Gas boilers cannot be positioned in rooms

in which halogen compounds can occur and into which combustion air can enter (e.g. laundrettes, hairdressers).

• Halogen compounds can be caused by clean ing and degreasing solutions, dissol-vents, glue and bleaching lyes. Pay atten-tiontotheProcalleaflet,corrosionthroughHalogen compounds.

Combustion airFor the version with a common exhaust pipe it isimperativethatthefreshairflapsuppliedisin fact installed!

The supply of combustion air must be guaran-teed. There must be no possibility to close the air supply opening.

If the heating rooms are extremely dirty or if there is a high dirt incidence in the combusti-on air (e.g. operation of the boiler during the construction phase), clean combustion air has to be fed directly from outdoors or from a suitable area.

The minimum free cross-section for the com-bustion air can be assumed simplifi ed as fol-lows:Consideringnominaloutput!

- Only room air-dependent operation: Minimum free cross-section of the opening intotheopen:150cm²ortwice75cm²andadditionally2cm²necessaryforeachKWofoutput over 50 KW for vent into the open.

Manual gas shut-off tap and gas filterImmediately in front of the boiler a manual gas shut-off device (tap) must be installed accord-ing to relevant regulations. Should the local re-gu lations or conditions demand this, an appro-ved gas filter must be installed in the gas sup-ply pipe between the gas tap (thermally releas-ing) and the boiler in order to prevent malfunc-tion due to foreign particles being carried along with the gas.

cia list of Hoval and the gas supplier.

Heating boiler in the attic• If the gas boiler is positioned on the top floor,theinstallationofalowwaterprotec-tion, which automatically turns the gas bur-ner off in case of water shortage, is recom-mended.

Condensate drain • The condensate from the exhaust system

can be discharged through the boiler. A con-densate trap is not needed anymore with the exhaust system .

• The condensate drainage without neutralisa-tion is allowed, if you are using for the drain only plastic tubes or stoneware (possibly ob tain special exemption from the relevant authority).

• A siphon must be installed at the condensa-te outlet on the gas boiler (included in the boiler scope of delivery).

Expansion tank• Anadequatelydimensionedexpansiontank

must be provided.

• The expansion tank has to be installed in principle at the boiler return.

• Attheheatingflowasafetyvalvemustbeinstalled. An automatic exhauster is built in the boiler.

Noise level• The acoustic power level value is dependent

on the local and spacial circumstances. • The acoustic pressure level is dependent

on the installation conditions and can for in stance be 5 to 10 dB(A) lower than the acoustic power level at a distance of 1 m.

Recommendation:If the air inlet at the facade is near a noise sen-sitive place (window of bedroom, terrace etc.), we recommend to use a sound absorber at the direct cumbustion air inlet.

Chimney / flue gas system• Gasboilersmustbeconnectedtoafluegassystem(chimneyorfluegaslines).

• Flue gas lines must be gastight and leak-tight against condensate and over pressure andaretobefittedwithasafetytempera-ture li miting device.

• Gas boilers with condensation heat utilisa-tionaretobeconnectedtoafluegaslinemin. Temperature class T120.

• Afluegastemperaturelimiterisbuiltintheboiler.

External boiler control• In principle the Hoval TopTronic®T is intend-

ed to assume the cascade control function. This ensures an environmental and pro-duct- conserving mode of operation. If, in spite of this, the cascade strategy is planned externally and power control of the boiler takesplace,frequentsequencinghastobeavoided (a burner running time of at least 12 minutes).
