Now we are seven

The Cancer Research Campaign and the Imperial Cancer Research Fund joined forces in February 2002, and have since become:

the largest fund-raising medical research charity in the world

the largest funder of cancer research in Europe a major influence on government policy relevant to cancer a leading player in the National Cancer Research Institute

We spend over £300 million on research We fund:

- more than 4,250 researchers …

- … at 42 UK universities We support:

- 9 Clinical Trials Units

- 17 Experimental Cancer Medicine Centres

- 7 graduate training programmes We run 5 Institutes

Clinician Scientist Fellowship 4 years, renewable 1 technician Combine post-doc training

with specialist training PhD required Must have less than 2.5

years training to complete

Senior Cancer Research Fellowship 6 years Up to 2 research assistants, 1

technician, 1 student Aim to build up research group Need CCT and 2 years’ postdoctoral

research experience

Who are our fellows?

Most of them stay in cancer research

For our past fellows: More than half are in research positions Almost all of these are in the UK

For our current fellows: Most are aiming to go back to clinical training 70% are aiming for clinical academic posts in the long term
