Theories of motivationPsychologists developed countless theories behind motivation over time including:- Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory- Hawthorne Effect - Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs- Expectancy Theory- McClelland’s Human Motivation Theory
So what do they MEAN?
These theories aim to highlight the greatest factors of
motivation.
We’re going to focus on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
The first three levels focus on our basic needs including food,
shelter, safety and employment.
Maslow’s Hierarchy of NeedsAccording to Maslow, once each
level of motivation has been reached, an individual will begin to
move up the hierarchy.
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
The ‘Esteem’ level focuses on personal achievement and respect.
This can be generated through senior positions or beginning your own business.
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
The ‘Self-Actualization’ level focuses on personal growth and discovery.
This can be generated through following one’s passion and dreams.
