• Especially not a “guaranteed” 1, 2, 3 prize. (Example.)

You can see a contest I ran in 2007 here: http://www.partnerupdates.com/affiliate-contest.html
It was the first go-round of the “Everybody Wins” contest. I
tested it on MenuPlanningCentral.com first.
Once you Make a Plan…
1. Set up your contest. Model it after one of mine – but give me a link or mention how awesome I am if you do.
2. Run it by two friends who ideally understand affiliate marketing. Important! Ask them to explain the
contest BACK to you.
3. Ideally, have a lawyer look at the rules.
(c) Nicole Dean - NicoleontheNet.com
So That’s All, Right?
You just set up the contest and then make a MEELION dollars?
Sorry… no. As always you have to
“PROMOTE YOUR PROMOTIONS!” Once your contest is live, your role
changes.
(c) Nicole Dean - NicoleontheNet.com
First you become the marketer – and spread the word globally….
• Email Affiliates about the contest -
repeatedly.
• Email customers. (No matter what niche you’re in, they can understand a “referral” program.)
• Mention the contest where your potential affiliates hang out, like the Warrior Forum or NAMS Forum.
• Post the link to the contest on Facebook and invited people.
(c) Nicole Dean - NicoleontheNet.com
Then you become the connector – and spread the word…. Privately.
DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP! Personally contact (like with a
personal email or phone call)… – Affiliates who have successfully
done promotions in the past for you.
– Affiliates who have successfully promoted your competition.
– People you met at NAMS or other networking events.
– People YOU’ve successfully promoted.
(pssst… this is where the money is)
(c) Nicole Dean - NicoleontheNet.com
Then you become the cheerleader!
DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP Either! Equally important… During the duration of the
contest – be a cheerleader. – Motivate. – Encourage. – Praise.
• In public • In private
Think “Community” (c) Nicole Dean - NicoleontheNet.com
At the End…
Deliver the prizes
THANK the participating affiliates
Give them a shout out to your list and on Facebook
Look at numbers
Reassess

Homework
1. If you don't have an affiliate program yet, set one up as soon as possible. 2. Begin thinking of your affiliate list as one of your most valuable assets. 3. Brainstorm a contest that you think would motivate YOU if you were your
own affiliate. Feel free to use my examples as inspiration. 4. Update your affiliate program –do a quick check to make sure all of the
links work and the sign up and login information is visible and easy to find
5. Make a list of the people who you think could really make a difference in your business. That list is golden. Keep it handy. You'll refer to it often.
6. Plan to attend one live event – soon, to get to know others in your business. Whether it's a trade show/industry event or an internet marketing one – they make a huge difference in your business.
7. Most importantly – have FUN! You'll notice that it's much easier to motivate people if they're enjoying the process. So enjoy!
