“A carefully monitored work or service experience in which an intern has

intentional goals and activities to reflect an intentional learning experience similar to

an apprenticeship”

Requirements¿ Must be current graduate or undergraduate students from accredited academic institutions to include the Service Academies. Their academ-ics should focus on fields within Peacekeeping and Stability Operations (public administration, political science, security studies, and related fields). Students that have graduated cannot be considered.

¿ Students seeking academic credit, must be enrolled through their academic institution’s official internship program. PKSOI will work with your institution to ensure appropriate academic requirements are adhered to.

¿ Interns are accepted from academic institu-tions that are accredited by agencies recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Coun-cil for Higher Education Accreditation.

¿ Barracks housing is available for Academy and R.O.T.C. Cadets only. Carlisle Barracks does not have a dining facility. All others are respon-sible for their own housing arrangements. A variety of “fast food” and restaurants are located on Post or within walking distance of Carlisle Barracks.

The United States Army PeaceKeep-ing and Stability Operations Institute is the one-stop stability and peace operations information conduit for the Army.

War fighting is expensive—in humanitarian and economic terms. No one knows this bet-ter than the U.S. Army. PKSOI is an organization that “thinks outside the box” and understands the benefit of bringing in new ideas from across disciplines.

We know that instability is an international is-sue and we want to be part of the solution. It is with this spirit that PKSOI provides internship opportunities. We believe they are worth- while learning experiences for all of us and reinforce a collaborative learning environment.

PKSOI OVERVIEW

¿ We will consider having an intern complete an internship remotely; however, such intern-ships are rare. If interested, applicants must provide the same application materials as other applicants. Additional requirements may be needed to ensure the student, mentor and identi-fied project(s) can be accomplished remotely throughout the session. If selected, the project management will be accomplished through elec-tronic means.
