How to Buy
Electronic
Components
in Nanded
By
Ranvir Desai
Preface
When I was a first year student, I didnt know what a wire was called.
It was due to my enthusiastic partners of project in first year Shakti, Sonali, Neha and Robotics
for Next Generation Club that I started learning a little bit of electronics. Whenever we needed
components, we used to go to RNXG lab and demand for components, but we couldnt find all the
components there. So we started to find the component shops in Nanded. We found one where cheap
hobby electronic components were available. We followed it for one year till we needed bigger
components like a microcontroller chip.
We had to order online and thus we took help from seniors to learn about ordering procedure. I
followed the lose procedure depicted orally by my seniors Mahesh bhaiyya and Manik bhaiyya who had
ordered many components for a line follower workshop I did in first year.
As I started working in Innovation Laboratory, I ordered some of the components that I needed
along with the common components that anyone I thought might need while doing projects. Then we
ordered more components for events like basic electronic (breadboard) workshop in Instrumentation
department and in First year. I had ordered 90 kits worth 300 each. By that time ordering components
seemed fun and we found some alternatives also.
Here Im going to give a detailed procedure that you would like to follow while ordering
components for your project or Robot. This manual you about from where you can buy the
components, not from where you should. So try to find alternatives which are cheaper, better, quicker
and more comfortable than this so that everyone will be benefited.

1.1 Project Design
One needs to know what components to be ordered before ordering them. There are certainly
types of components and types of shops too. Some components can be bought at the local shops.
This doesnt necessarily mean you shouldnt buy them from outside. There are priorities, in most
cases its money.
Discuss with your team what kind of project youre undertaking, what are the major parts of it,
and what are the elements of each part. For more information you dont know which is there, take
help of seniors about project design.
Once you have a circuit design or a sketch model of your project or robot, show it to a senior or
one who has ordered components before so that you know what everything is known as in market.
1.2 Component Estimate
You might refer to online shopping websites such as following for name, picture, availability and
price of a component. Search in those sites for availability of a particular component. Price is not
issue for most of the students. So dont bother comparing too much, but you should compare if you
need good service. You might find all the details about the ordering components, but that is later
phase. Here is a list of few websites Ive visited and used for ordering components.

1.3 List
It is the hardest part of ordering components. You need to prepare a list of components which will
include all the components in one place such as resistors in resistor category and motors, wheels, etc. in
hardware category. Ive given some of the lists that Ive got in reply from Visha Electronics Mumbai.
You may refer the lists for any components price as follows. They are old like 1 to 2 years but it
hardly matters for some components.
The list I sent last year in January 13 for Workshop by RNXG.

With this recent list, we end the list topic. By now you may be clear with the concept of
list, why we need to prepare a list for a project. I am very glad to let you know that feels great
when you order components of your friends, and it feels greater to tell them the procedure to
be followed by them.
2.1 Local Shops
There are many local shops where you can buy resistors, capacitors and 7805s because
theyre available in the power supplies of consumer electronics. FM electronics keeps the large
collection of electronic components which can be used by engineering students for projects. You
might not find logic ICs like AND gate or particular components like crystal oscillator.
If youre doing one of the speaker project or a 555 project, it is best you go to local shops. It is a
quick option for buying components.
Im giving google map images for two shops in Nanded Vazirabad Area for FM
Electronics, and Vinayak Electronics.
FM Electronics is underground shop at
Mahaveer Chowk. You will get the address if
you ask about it at some nearby shop. You can
buy resistors, capacitors, speakers, sensors,
etc.
Vinayak Electonics is 3rd or 4th Shop in
Paper Market in Gurudwara Chowk. You can
buy speaker, IC 555, LEDs, resistors,
capacitors, 7805, etc.
Ganesh Electonics is on the way from
FM electronics to Gandhi Putala. You can buy
the different sockets, cables and wires from
there.
Mumbai: if your friends or relatives are
in Mumbai, there is a market or electronic
components on Lamington Road. You can buy
almost everything you need in an electronic
project or bot there. Not available on
Sundays.
Hyderabad: you can take a one day visit to Hyderabads Koti Market. There you may find
components of RC aero plane to pick and place robot at Gujrati Galli. Available on Sundays.
Passenger train to Hyderabad is one cheaper (Rs. 40) option for night travel.
2.2 Online Shops
Heres a list of online shops:
www.vishaworld.com Visha Electronics, Mumbai
www.robokits.co.in Robokits, Gurjat, India
www.vegarobokit.com Vega Robo Kit (Mac-net Technologies), Mumbai and Hyderabad
www.in.element14.com Element 14
www.digibay.in Digibay, Hyderabad
www.simplelabs.co.in Simple Labs, Bangalore
www.embeddedmarket.com Embedded Market, Pune
You need to visit the websites, search more, and spend some time there to know whats where.
You need to list out your priorities first for choosing a shop as follows:
1. Payment
a. Cash on Delivery
b. Direct Account Transfer
c. Credit cum ATM card
d. Net banking
2. Shipping
a. Postal
b. Private services (Bluedart, First Flight, etc.)
3. Price
a. Less (including shipping)
b. More
Tip: Fail and fall as much as you can, you learn while picking yourselves up.
If you dont want to lose any money while ordering components, before confirming the order,
keep your cash ready and ask to friends for payment before components arrive, if youre ordering their
components. Its easy to keep track of money if you work by rules.
3.1 Distribution and Remaining Component Order
After components have arrived, only remaining task is to check if the ordered components and
arrived components match. If they match then send a thank you mail to the shop from where you
bought the components.
If some component is missing or some component is misplaced, contact to the shop to sort out
the problem. In most cases there is nothing more to do than to order new component. So you need to
prepare a complementary list right after youve received components.
Once you have prepared your complementary list, ask your friends if they want to order any
components, take a list from them and order the components. Main purpose of this kind of trick is to
divide the shipping cost into splits.
