Rotary Splash Park Terrace, B.C.

The Rotary Club of Terrace and the Rotary Club of Terrace Skeena Valley in partnership with the City of Terrace are planning to construct a Splash Park in downtown Terrace in 2016/2017.

The two Clubs have committed significant resources to this project and are looking for Corporate and individual donors to assist in making the plan a reality.

The City of Terrace has approved the splash park concept and set aside a space at George Little Park. The two Rotary Clubs have committed $60,000.00 towards the purchase and construction of this park.

The total cost to complete this community project will be approximately $250,000.00.

WE ARE ROTARY Rotary brings together people like you. At Rotary, we connect for good – and form lifelong friendships in the process. Together, we empower youth, improve health, promote peace, and advance our communities in all corners of the globe. With 1.2 million members in 34,000 clubs worldwide, our global community’s impact has never been greater and it continues to grow. Belonging to a Rotary club provides members with an opportunity to give back to their communities and to connect with like-minded leaders and friends. People join Rotary for many reasons, including community involvement, personal development, professional networking, and camaraderie. But perhaps the most important benefit is the satisfaction you gain from making a real difference in your community and in the world.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

OUR CURRENT PROJECTS Our clubs are committed to making a difference locally, regionally and internationally by targeting six areas of focus: promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, maternal and child health, supporting education and growing local economies. This translates into projects like helping seniors at Terraceview stay engaged and alert, building a playground at Ferry Island, funding a nurse at a clinic in Guatemala and teaching farmers in Ethiopia how to keep bees so they can build a sustainable economy.

Our Clubs

Our  clubs  give  you  an  opportunity  to  join  leaders  to  take  action  on  important  issues  affecting  our  community,  our  nation,  and  the  world.  We  also  have  a  lot  of  fun  –  whether  we’re  socializing  or  working  together  on  service  projects.  Members  of  our  Rotary  clubs  connect  at  weekly  meetings  and  learn  from  business  experts,  political  and  civic  leaders,  and  entrepreneurs,  who  help  us  stay  informed  on  topics  that  are  relevant  to  our  community.  Together,  we  make  great  things  happen.  I  joined  Rotary  to  make  a  difference.  I  stay  in  Rotary  because  of  the  friendships  I’ve  made.

Artistic sketch of the Splash Park – George Little Park in Terrace, BC

Rotary brings together people like you – from all walks of life – who want to use their expertise for good. People whose sense of responsibility inspires them to give back to their communities. At Rotary, we connect for good, and form lifelong friendships in the process. The Splash Park project fits perfectly with our mandate to find ways to benefit a wide spectrum of people in our community. This project will bring a quality family amenity into downtown Terrace.

At the February 10, 2015 City of Terrace Council meeting, Council approved the request from the Rotary Clubs of Terrace and Skeena Valley to proceed with the Splash Park project at George Little Park.

MOVED/SECONDED that Council approve the Rotary Club's donation of a splash park facility to be located in George Little Park; that the splash park project be engineered and designed with the City having final approval, and upon completion of the project, the Rotary Club will transfer ownership of the facility to the City for ongoing operation and maintenance. Carried Unanimously.
