How to draw in 1 point perspective
• You will need a– Ruler
– #2 Pencil
– Eraser
– 8x11 paper
– computer
To draw a solid object in 3-D
• You must know the
• Vanishing point
• Horizon line
• Orthogonal (diagonal lines to the VP)
Using your ruler, draw a line between the orthogonal lines that is parallel to the
front of the box.
Using your ruler, draw a line between the orthogonal lines that are
parallel to the side and front of the box.
Assignment 1: Using your ruler, draw 6 boxes in 1 point perspective around the
vanishing point and horizon line.
This is an example. Your paper will look different.
Assignment 2: Draw your initials in 6 inch block style letters and then use the steps to turn
them into a 1 point perspective drawing.

Finish the drawing by adding details. What kind of house is it? A mansion, a ranch,
a 2 story, in the country or city? In the mountains or near a river? Does it have a garage? A swimming pool? A balcony?
Assignment 4: The blue box is the back wall. The green lines create the other walls, floor and ceiling.
