Gobelin embroidery is a pleasant occupation and not difficult at all. However success depends on the correct execution of instructions. It is possible to embroider using needle point or petit point. Needle point is embroidered on the horizontal floss of fabric from the right to the left. First of all, the point size is determined; defining on the fabric a square and its diagonal will be the needle point. Each sign from the modelís chart represents one needle point or just a stitch over one strand of fabric, performed by bringing your needle up through the bottom left hole of a square and down into the top right hole (see Picture 1). By carrying the thread through we obtain an oblique line on the wrong side. As a result of repeating this operation, we obtain points on the right and on the wrong sides of fabric as well, where they appear being oriented in the opposite direction. When the row is finished, we go back introducing the needle from the left to the right (see Picture 2).

The fabric on which the embroidery will be executed is fixed on an embroidery hoop/tambour, as it will be well stretched with straight strands; but at the same time paying attention not to deform the squares. The work may begin from the top to the bottom or from the bottom to the top, from the right or from the left. Every time leave margins reserve at least 2.5 - 3 cm / 1 ñ 1.2 inches. To perform the selected model, embroider with oblique stitches, according to the work chart, where the color distribution is shown. Each color is represented by a different symbol which is to be identified in the embroidery floss sample and in the chart. Gobelin embroidery will be performed by sewing with 2 out of the 6 strands of mouline embroidery floss set included. The work should have neat, esthetic appearance both on the right and on the wrong sides. For this reason, we do not recommend you making knots or big steps. You should fix the end of the strand in a discrete way among similar color strands on the wrong side of the fabric. Do not embroider strictly delimited surfaces as the outline effect will spoil Gobelinís appearance.

At the end of the work, embroidered with ANCHOR mouline fabric may be washed as follows: machine wash at warm or hot water at a maximum of 90°C/194 F; or hand wash in as hot water as you can stand. Use gentle washing agent. Avoid cold water to retain colorís brightness. Embroidered fabric is rinsed for several times but not wringed. It is only slightly shaken to shun possible model deformation. After that, the fabric is laid on a white towel and they are rolled together. For complete drying, it is recommended to lay embroidered fabric on a table. The last one should be covered with a piece of clean material. Iron only on the wrong side of fabric and the embroidery will not glister.
