Let Me Tell You A Story.

March of 2015, I decided to leave my entry level marketing job.

I felt like what I was doing wasn’t really helping a company grow.

My passion is to have a significant impact on helping businesses grow.

I decided to pursue becoming an expert in digital marketing.

I dove into studying digital marketing; reading every digital marketing book I could get my hands on.

One book stood out to me.

It was called “The New Rules Of Marketing & PR” by David Meerman Scott.

In his book, David challenged his readers to blog. He inspired me to blog.

So I drove to my second office, Panera Bread, and I signed up for an account on Blogger.com

I spent 6 hours writing my first blog.

I wanted it to be perfect.

After writing my first blog, I pressed submit and shared it on social media.

And then I waited…

And then I waited…

For views.

1 hour: Clicked refresh… no views

1 hour: Clicked refresh… no views2 hours: Clicked refresh… no views

1 hour: Clicked refresh… no views2 hours: Clicked refresh… no views3 hours: Clicked refresh… no views

1 hour: Clicked refresh… no views2 hours: Clicked refresh… no views3 hours: Clicked refresh… no views6 hours: Clicked refresh… 5 views!!!

1 hour: Clicked refresh… no views2 hours: Clicked refresh… no views3 hours: Clicked refresh… no views6 hours: Clicked refresh… 5 views!!!

Except it was from my mom and brother.-_-

I ended up getting a total of 40 views for that blog post.

But 0 views were from my TARGET AUDIENCE

When I first started, I did not realize why I was not getting traffic.

Now I know.

And I’m going to show you exactly how I was able to increase my traffic by 450%!

My Research Strategy1. Start with Google Trends.

Chose to blog about digital marketing because of the increase in searches.

2. Take these terms and type them into Google. Click the websites that are on the top page.

Spy on your competition. Ask yourself “what are they not doing?”.
