How to Input PDR or Hail Damage WITHOUT the PDR

Module

First off, we will not cover the paintless dent repair module of Audatex because not all

packages have that available to them, but know that if you enable that feature it can help

make inputting damages easier.

To input hail damage inside of Audatex without the paintless dent repair module and

upgrade is still very easy, but it does take one piece of material outside of Audatex, a

PDR/Hail repair matrix.

There are 3 steps to using this in the field,

1. Determine what panel is damaged

2. Determine the count of how many dents are on the panel

3. Determine the majority size of dents on the panel (Dime, Nickel, Quarter, Half)

Using this matrix and the three steps listed before you can determine the cost of the

damages on a panel from hail.

For this example we will say the hood has 18 Quarter sized dents.

1. Panel - Hood

2. Count – 18 (move to the right on the matrix until we get to range of dents that our count

falls under)

In this case it is the “Moderate 16-30 Dents”

3. Size – Quarter

The cross point on the hood line where the dent count and size meet on the matrix gives us

the “Sublet Repair Price” for repairing the hail damage to the hood. In this case it is $225.

(see image on the next page)

You will repeat this process for every panel on the vehicle that has hail damage and then

input those damages into Audatex using the sublet repair operation.

For more assistance and information about how to write hail damages I have a book called

the “Hail Adjuster’s Playbook” which covers this in greater detail.

Inputting the PDR amount into Audatex Now that we know that we want to write $225 of PDR on the hood we need to input that into

Audatex.

From the damage page of Audatex select the correct section of the vehicle by clicking the

parts section drop-down and finding the “Front Body and Windshield” section where your

part will be located.

Now the parts diagram should change to show you the parts located in the section you have

selected. There are two ways to select the part you’d like to replace.

1. Using the parts diagram – simply click the correct part picture located in the parts

diagram. (for speed use the parts diagram that is standard practice with IA’s)

2. Using the parts selection – you can also locate the part in the list of parts to the right

underneath the parts section drop-down menu.

Once you select the hood, it will bring up a pop-up window where you can select what

operation that needs to be done to that panel, in this case select “,” put for the PDr

(determined by the matrix) into the price category and add a line note, “PDR [Dent

Count]+[Size]” in our example it is “PDR 18Q” and select the “OK” button.

Audatex will add the line to the estimate portion in the bottom section. That is how you add

hail damage or PDR to a panel WITHOUT the PDR module inside of Audatex.
