How I created my Magazine cover using Photoshop.

Sarah Noble

Page 2: How to make magazine final version

I firstly started to open a new Photoshop document in an A4 size with a black background to be the base for the Mona the Vampire DVD, which I can then edit and add to.

The next stage is to chose a photo which would be suitable for the front cover of my magazine, I have chosen a photo which has been used in my sand animation. As the Target audience would have seen the title sequence and then remember this cat Shape which will then make them recognize the Mona the Vampire products and magazines.

The photo above shows the fully finished edited photo, above on the screen grab above.

I then edited the photo to make it glow and so that it will stand out on the magazine background.

The next stage is to add on text to the magazine cover by using the T toollocated on the far left side of the left hand tool bar.

To reflect the channel that Mona the Vampire will be on I have decided to include the CBBC logo on the front of the magazine. Above shows the background being erased out to just leave the logo.

Page 8: How to make magazine final version

Above shows the magazine cover with the same text tat I have used on the DVD cover and also ‘free posters inside!’ Which is in the colour white to reflect the main photo on the magazine cover.

The next stage is to input the bar code which is going to be used for the magazine which is now going to be copied onto the magazine background.

Page 10: How to make magazine final version

The photo above shows a screen grab with the logo pasted onTo the magazine background, which can be moved by using theTop left hand tool on the left hand tool bar.

I have then created a star shaped template to include on the front ofmy magazine cover. Which I have will then change the colour of to dark orange to reflect the DVD cover.

After editing the star and coping on this shape and pasting onto the DVDbackground which I have then added text to my using the T tool.

I have them imported a photo of Mona the Vampire which I have sourcedfrom a Google image search, which I have rotated and changed the sizeBy right clicking the photo and using the free transform tool.

The next step is to add text above the Mona the Vampire photo, thisis so that there are elements and items which the reader wants to know more about and will then buy the magazine.

A photo of the DVD cover that I have created as also been pasted onto The magazine cover, this will then promote the DVD.

Page 17: How to make magazine final version

The screen grab above shows what the DVD cover currently looks likesince items have been added.

Page 18: How to make magazine final version

I have then added text to show items to make the reader want to knowwhat is in the magazine. The text added says that within the magazine youcan learn how to make your very own Mona the Vampire outfit.

Page 19: How to make magazine final version

The next piece of text that I have added is that there are interviews with Lily and Charlie which is in the dark orange colour showing a continuing theme throughout the DVD and magazine covers of dark orange, whit and black.

The next stage that I have carried out is to open four different symbols and smaller photos that have been used in my sand animation, which then reflect the title sequence on the magazine cover. Above shows one symbol which has been edited by erasing the background.

Page 21: How to make magazine final version

I have then copied this symbol onto the DVD background, which matchesthe main photo of the cat which has been used on the magazine.

Page 22: How to make magazine final version

I have then continued to add symbols onto the magazine cover for example the screen grab above shows the swirl which has also been used on the DVD cover.

Page 23: How to make magazine final version

I have then also copied in the photo of the bat in the bottom right hand cornerWith also two white small circles to the right of the cat to represent the bat Eyes which have been used in the title sequence.
