How to Plan Your New YearSuccess is a Plan Not an Accident
There is only one way to ensure that you would have a
successful year: by planning. The worst thing that could
happen to anyone is to cross into the new year without a
plan. How could you live 12 months, 52 weeks or 365
days without a written plan? That would be completely
unthinkable for anyone who wants to experience success
and significance! 365 days is approximately 9,000 hours, or530,000 minutes or 32,000,000 seconds. How could you
spend 32,000,000 seconds without a plan? If you watched about six hours of television andhome video every day in 2009 then you spent 8,000,000seconds or 132,000 minutes watching home video. This is
not including gossip time and times spent without
purpose. Suppose you had spent that time building
relationships within your family, enhancing your career
and talents, or making money, how different would your
life have been?
Living Deliberately
In my lifetime I have observed that there are two kinds of
people: those who live by accident and those who live by
a plan. When you wake up each day, do you have a place
to go, something worthwhile to do, a goal to accomplish? Those who live by accident allow circumstancesto control them. When circumstances are favorable they
are happy, when circumstances change they become
depressed. Those who live by plan are different: they
create and control their own circumstances. When they
meet with adversity, they already know what to do
because they had anticipated it.

Five Reasons why you must plan for the
New Year.
(1) Planning is the first step in bringing intangible
ideas into existence. Your good ideas remain
impotent until you put them into a plan.
(2) You are far more likely to achieve your goal if
you plan.
(3) You would know what to do if things go wrong
because you had thought through it when you
did your planning. Those who do not plan are
taken by surprise when things go wrong.(4) When you plan, your job is half done.
(5) Planning puts circumstances under your
control.
9 Quick Tips for Planning a Successful
Year
(1) Review the past year and write down all the
major lessons you have learnt. What did you do
well and what can you do better? Socrates said,The unexamined life is not worth living. So,
examining your life gives you a baseline to begin
your planning. Why do you need to examine your
life closely? Because if you are not aware of the
habits and things that have been sabotaging your
success, you will keep committing errors in
judgment, making the same mistakes and
experiencing failure.
