How to safely clean the inside of a computer.
By Allan Dick
Supplies Needed
• A can of compressed air. ( A 10 oz. can generally cost from $5-$10 and you can get them at any hardware store)
• Endust for Electronics or any other household plastic or metal cleaning fluid.
• A face mask if you are allergic to dust.• A vacuum.
Steps• Step 1 – Shut down the computer. Remove all of the
peripherals.• Step 2 – Take off the outer case. (Unscrew screws)• Step 3 – Ground yourself by touching a metal part of the
chassis.• Step 4 – Vacuum any loose dust out of the computer case.• Step 5 – Spray compressed air on the fan blades, the power
supply chassis, drive chassis, and circuit boards. • Step 6 – Vacuum any remaining dust that the compressed air
didn’t remove.• Step 7 – Put the case back on the computer and reconnect
any peripherals.
Step 4 - Vacuuming
Be careful while vacuuming inside the computer because the internal components are very delicate and can break easily. So don’t jam the vacuum in too hard.
Step 5 – Compressed Air
Step 6 – Vacuum Remaining Dust
