How to take holiday photos… www.photocra*y.net
So you are on holiday… • You are surrounded by new sights, scents and sounds, to a photographer this can be a potent mix which can lead to a dose of the 'snap happy's'. • There's nothing par=cularly wrong with this condi=on apart from a couple of nasty side effects:
1. Clogging up your hard drive 2. Boring your friends and rela=ves to death with
you holiday photos!
How to cure a does of the ‘snap happy’s’ • I recently caught myself instagraming a photo which said, 'I know I'm in France but this looks so French!' • The picture was of a gorgeous Citroen van, parked on the edge of maize field. • I felt I couldn’t have been anywhere else apart from in France. Which le* me thinking that we are all a liMle bit like a Victorian explorer, wan=ng to capture tokens of our far off travels to be displayed later.
Look for the ‘Oh la la,’ moments!
Embrace your inner Victorian explorer and look for things which are outside of your normal frame of reference.
Noticing differences between your normal surroundings and that of your new location tells an interesting story for the viewer. It also tells us interesting stories about ourselves, about our similarities as well as our differences.
So my Dirst tip is to keep your eyes for a visual game of spot the difference.
