How to Use Atlas
A web 2.0 tool By Jacob Loewen
Step 1 visit http://fmatlas.com/atlas2/jsp/login.jsp and you will arrive at the Atlas homepage
Step 2 Click on create a new account
Step 3 Fill out your information and then click register
Step 4 once registered you will then arrive at this homepage
About Atlas
• With Atlas you can: • Create high-quality online maps in a few
seconds • Use the maps on your page in any size or
format • Allow readers to plot comments & photos on
maps • Map data from Wikipedia and Google Local
Search • Download and upload data of your choosing
• For my purposes I will be creating my own map on the various places I have visited over the years and will then be linking websites and photos to the places I post on the map
Step 5 Type in any place in the world in which you want to include in your map (For my purposes I chose to include my hometown)
Step 6 (Part 1) Once you have selected the destination click on the icon to open the window indicated (Part 2) This window allows you to label your destination and to add additional resources like pictures and websites

Step 7 To add additional information you can add it from here, for my purposes I will be adding a link to Richmond’s website
Step 8 Go to any website of your choosing and copy the url
Step 9 paste the url in the link text window and then click the add link button
Step 10 click the preview button when opening the destination icon again and the preview to see the link you added to that destination
Step 11 To add additional destinations just go to the search bar at the top and type in the place which will then lead you to the same icon and window format and add a title to the icon
Step 12 to add an image you can either add the url or upload from you computer
Step 13 For my purposes I choose to add a photo from my photo library by clicking Upload Image
Step 14 To upload an image click the Choose File button and go through you files which you may have already stored on you library or taken from the internet and click choose
Step15 To upload Directions to a certain location click on Add Directions Link
Step 16 0nce selected pick any location of you choosing within that icons location and will provide a link for directions to get there
Step 17 To add a business location click on the Business Name window and type in your business
Step 18 Once the location has been searched it will come up with all the locations in the area you selected and click Map this Location once you have the right one
Step 19 Once entered, the location will appear on you map where you can add various media to this location
Step 20 Once you have all the sufficient information and media you want on the map you can then and a title to your map on the bottom text box and then click save
Step 21 Once saved you can then embed the map on a website or page of your choosing by copying the embed URL and then pasting on your page
• Atlas has many other features in which to upload and add media and information to your map, but in all these are the basics which you can use in order to create the map of you liking
