How to use PressReader April 2017

PressReader gives you access to:

over 3,200 newspapers from over 100 countries in over 60 languages

including over 180 New Zealand newspapers

over 3,100 magazines

including over 80 New Zealand magazines

You can use PressReader on your home computer, tablet, smart phone or from library

computers.

PressReader is designed for browsing and provides full-colour views of the original

newspaper or magazine.

Using PressReader is free for members of Hutt City Libraries and titles are available up to 60

days after publication.

This guide is an introduction to the main features of PressReader

How do I access PressReader?

Free access is available from

library.huttcity.govt.nz

Under Quick Links on the home page

open eNewspapers (PressReader)

To sign in select Hutt City Libraries

Enter:

your Library card Number

Your Pin/Password

Click Sign In

See staff if you do not have a Library

Password

If a welcome screen is displayed click

Select Publications

A selection of New Zealand newspapers

is displayed

Click on in the top right

and Click Publications to start browsing

You can browse by:

Countries (e.g. all magazines from Australia)

Languages (e.g. all magazines in French)

Categories (broad subjects such as Food & Drinks, Business, and Travel)

Publication types (Magazines or Newspapers)

When you select a category the

resulting titles are displayed

If you know the title of a publication

use the search box

Click on the title of a publication to

view it

Can I Search?

What does a publication look like?

The latest issue of the newspaper

or magazine is displayed

You can:

Change the date

Scroll through the sections

of the publication

Can I make the paper or magazine easier to read?

Use then left and right arrows on

the screen to scroll through the

newspaper or magazine

Click on the text of an article to

enlarge it

Click on the headline of an article

to see a version which is easier to read

Click the icon next to the title of

an article to open a menu of tools

allowing you to

Listen to the article

Copy the article

Print the article

Translate the article

Listening and translating are not

Display the easy to read version of the

article

Click the icon in the top right

Click Print on the smaller display

Print as Text is the best option
