What is Ride Hailing? And, Why It is Not Rideshare or TNC?
Rideshare is the act of carpooling in personal cars with a driver and 1 or more passengers.
Ride share has been around for years….There is no fee but someone driving a van and picking up a group of carpoolers sharing a similar route to work and/or school
With the growth of the smartphone app, UBER, Sidecar and Lyft made this initially their definition of their business model despite chargine a fee / donation (Lyft).
However, further refinement to the definitions proved out that Rideshare was for those not charging for the ride as being part of a carpool and these companies are really Transportation Network Companies.
