Training Exercise
EM UI Catalog
1. Create a Training Domain (to isolate your data)
• http://localhost/em/web/service-catalog/admin/domain/browse as admin/changeit
• Create a new Domain, name it Training of type “As-is/To-be Architecture”
• Setup the new Training as admin’s default domain
• Top-right corner of web UI > Administrator > Switch Domain
• Select Training, click Set Default Domain then Switch Domain
2. Create a new location consisting of training state and training city
• http://localhost/em/web/service-catalog/catalog/homepage
• create a new location for the state • Hint: location is in a business layer
• create a new sub-location from the ‘state’ location overview page• hint: show all relationships, composed-of, create new
Overview
Spreadsheets
• EM requires several naming and layout conventions in the imported files
• system definition model names are used
• matching rules and natural keys are expressed so that existing artifacts can be updated during import
• technical details are hidden to users
• XLS, XLSX and CSV files can be imported from web UI
• multiple files and sheets can be processed
• XLS, XLSX and CSV files can be imported using a command line tool
• runs remotely against a running EM instance
• EM can also export CSV files• via web UI, the resulting CSV can be directly used for import
• using a command line tool

OverviewRepository Archives
Export
You can selectively export some artifacts (a whole plateau for example) from an HP EM instance by selecting the desired artifacts in the catalog and clicking the Export context action. An archive file is produced.
Import
You can import the archive by using the Import Repository Archive feature. This enables you to transfer data between multiple, even disconnected instances of HP EM. In a similar way, you may export/import whole HP EM domains.
Overview
Surveys
• Gather information about artifacts from individuals over the web• encourage constructive and valuable feedback from users as per their user experience and expertise
• enhance the usability, feasibility and data quality of artifacts
