The employees are motivated by both monetary and non monetary ways.

On monetary side the employees are given production incentives

On non monetary side employees are motivated by recognizing their work, giving them importance and conducting work shops.

PROMOTIONS

Promotions are purely based on seniority basis.

The management discusses with the trade unions regarding to this issue.

The selected employees are put under probation and they are evaluated for their overall performance.

If he/she completes the probation period successfully, they are given that position.

All the employees are specially trained in areas like Type writing, embroidery and basic computer knowledge.

These activities are carried out based on pure employee interest, which takes place after working hours.

After successfully completing 3 years of apprenticeships, the eligible candidates are taken in as “Badli” The badli enjoy all the benefits except PF.

If there is any permanent position vacant in the company, the badlis are put in that position.

“Badli” is a jargon used mostly in the textile industry.

Training is a continuous process as far as the company is concerned.

Not only during modernization or recruitment of new employees, but training is also given for experienced employees whose performance is below expected levels.

The employees are updated with the latest technologies with the market.

Lakshmi Mills Private Limited has a majority of people working at the factory level.

Through this project we were able to relate classroom concepts to practicality and the extent to which they had to be modified to suit each type of industry.

In conclusion Lakshmi Mills Company Limited has very interesting HR practices that have evolved over years, majorly seasoned with experience and some of them are strong, effective, and complex although they would not have been mentioned in any HR book but form a part of the company’s culture.
