    Purpose

Objective: The objective of this team is to contribute money as professional through self-volunteer to reach out to fellow Kenyans who are experiencing difficult economic times to at least put a meal on the table. The group is cognizant of the fact that we cannot reach everybody as we would have loved to. However, we get motivation from the little change we can make. Citing Wangari Maathai story and the promise: Wangari Maathai – “I will be a hummingbird” We promise we will be at individual level, “the humming bird” Source of funding: We will contribute by giving whatever we have. To us there is no small amount. Kshs. 100 would feed a family by affording them breakfast. Kshs. 1,000 surprisingly can take other families a whole week. These are realities that we are in terms with and being HR professionals, we meet people of all walks of life and therefore we believe that what we do will make great impact. Accountability: This is a charitable arrangement and we will spend 100% of what we receive towards supporting, during this trying moment. We will commit our time and the little we can give to support a brother or a sister at no cost. After every project, we will publish the list of members who have contributed for verification and the cost of every project. Coordinators: Currently the coordination will be done by volunteers under the leadership of LR. Stephine Opiyo Obong’o CHRP-k, a HR Professional who also serves as a Chaplain at the CHRM. Other members of the team include HR professional across Kenya. For every project, we will have different coordinators on volunteer basis. Target Group: we are targeting children’s homes, street children, and other groups especially those heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. We will rely on professional group members to identify support groups.

    Corporate Sponsorship

Sponsored over 460 pairs of shoes worth Kshs. 800,000 for donation to Children Homes. 9 Children Homes already covered.

Sponsored Kshs. 12,000 to buy SMS and send communication to all HR Professionals

Proverbs 3:27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act. Deuteronomy 16:17: Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD your God which He has given you. 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed. Your humble servant of the Lord

Gathiga Hope Children’s Home (Tuwape Tumaini Children’s Home) is located in Gathiga Wangige, about 15Km from Nairobi. The Children’s Home has a population of 76 resident children and about 44 non-resident children whom majority are orphans. The 44 live with their grandparents who despite their age are also poor families. The children’s home has been depending on churches and well-wisher’s majority of which have been greatly affected by COVID-19. The children are aged between 1-20 years old.

    Team members who volunteered to visit the Gathiga children’s home;

    1. Rev. Daniel Akama 2. Mercy Wambui 3. Margaret Kinyanjui 4. Odhiambo Ooko 5. Jane Wairimu 6. Hildah Ndunge 7. Vivian Perose 8. Esther Ndungu 9. Betty Muthii 10. Stephen Amadalo 11. Stephine Opiyo Obong’o 12. Milkah Murimi 13. James Maina

Team we thank you so much for taking your time to visit the young ones. May God reward you richly.

Today the team was very blessed and our theme was Grace. At least, 5 members who attended had something to say about grace – that is God’s Grace. We all noted that God has given us an opportunity to serve.

Professional Colleagues who attended today visit would agree with me that it would be unfair not to recognize one Mr. Odhiambo Ooko, his constant reminder to the team on the back of his employer’s Safaricom Slogan - Simple, Transparent and Honest For You costed him big time and members redeemed their points by having him buy juice and fruits for the entire team. OO as we always call you, thanks a million time. Lest we forget – “if you are happy and you know clap your hands” Special thanks to Madam Principal Margaret Kinyanjui, Kenneth Achoki and Jane Wairimu who have adopted the event every Saturday. Last but not least, special thanks to Rev. Daniel Akama for leading the prayers, and Mrs. Rev. Fr. George Wairi for supporting HR Professionals in this noble cause.

What next???? We are on. Next week 23rd May 2020 we will be heading to Destiny Children’s Home – Kamangu - Thogoto. More details to follow during our mid-week updates. We also have events lined up as follows:

    1. 30th May 2020 – Dandora and Kariobangi 2. 6th June 2020 – Kisumu & Mombasa

More details on the above to be shared during weekly updates. We request members to share outside the HR Professionals Forum. We look forwards to raise funds and reach as many people as possible. Members have also asked whether they can donate other items such as books, clothing among others. We are organizing logistics for all that and will communicate by next week. Your continued support will be highly appreciated. Encouragement to Serve James 2:15-16 Suppose there are brothers or sisters who need clothes and don’t have enough to eat. What good is there in your saying to them, “God bless you! Keep warm and eat well!” – if you don’t give them the necessities of life? 1 John 3:17 But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? 1 John 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but indeed and in truth. I am loving what we are doing and the impact it has on the families we support. As we share the stories with the families we get to see the need and the urge as to why we should not stop this act of service and generosity. Someone really needs it. Professional colleagues, this are noble acts and may God continue to reward you, may he keep all of you safe, may he restore your granaries and may his love abide with you forever.

From the events of the past few week and our service, I can testify to the works of Apostle Paul when he took up God’s work in ministry. Our works as HR Professionals in the past few weeks has been a strong ministry of LOVE and CARE. It gives us the opportunity to leave the comfort of home every Saturday to share the love of Christ to those who really need our love.

We are continuing with the ministry works, serving those who need service

What next???? We are on. We have been on the move for the past seven weekends, it’s been a real bundle of experience and time well spent. The things we take for granted matter a lot and you have been in the center of supporting this initiative. At this time, we are even approaching friends of HR, we care for people of all professions and would appreciate partnering with you: Lawyers, Accountants, Doctors, Architectures, Teachers, Marketers, we do this for you in your organizations. Join us in making a difference out there. Next week 7th June 2020 we have a host of activities lining up at least 4 children’s homes with an optimistic budget of Kshs. 240,000 but we have faith we will pull through. This far God has been faithful. We have events lined up as follows:

    1. Villae Teag – Dandora Phs. 5 2. New Scent Advent Flora – Tala 3. Mary Faith Children’s Home - Satellite 4. Christ Chapel Childrens Home - Huruma

Encouragement to Serve Acts 20:35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Galatians 6:9, Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. 2 Thessalonians 3:13, But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary of doing good. 2 Corinthians 9:11, You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. What next???? We are on. Last weekend 30th May 2020 we took a break after a 6 series visits which took us to all corners of Nairobi from Kayole to kitengela, Kibera to Mlolongo and finally Thogoto to Kamangu. But we still did not end the week without an activity. In the middle of the week ending 30th,

we had a group representing us all the way in Kisumu visiting the flood victims in Kisumu County – The Sango family where we donated food worth Kshs. 50,000 to about a 120 families. Appreciation all the way from Kisumu to HR Professional Team.

Started on a very noble way this team has greatly impacted life and we are getting support from our members across the divides and industries. May God continue to bless all of you.

Earlier last week we had an ambitious target of raising Kshs. 240,000 to cover 4 homes. Considering the stretch, we did not meet the noble goal but raised sufficient funds to cover two homes. A total of Kshs. 101,930 was collected during the week. We had started off with a balance of Kshs. 15,000 and an unreconciled Kshs. 6,500 we managed to cover a budget of Kshs. 118,011 for the visits today.

Next weekend 13th June 2020 we are targeting New Scent Advent Flora – Tala and thereafter we shall cover Mary Faith Children’s Home – Satellite on the weekend of 20th June 2020

    With all the love

When we started this work it was more a journey of faith, we did not know that we will one day report having raised over Kshs. 600,00 visited 12 Homes and impacted over 600 lives. The word of God tells me in Hebrews 11:6, And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

As time goes and we are achieving more and more, we are getting new strength on the value of what we are doing. The events and time I've spent with the needy children in the past few weeks has redefined my way of looking at life. I appreciate every single minute of my life and look at every single day as a gift from God to my children. I have taken a life journey to the lonely life of these little ones growing up without parents in a society that seems to be moving on unperturbed. It has made me as myself that as a society, why can't we work, all of us to ensure quality of life for every single child defined not by our presence as parents but as a system that goes beyond our lives. What we are doing could be the genesis of that journey and a big appreciation to all of you HR Professionals and friends of HR who have taken their time to do this. But most important to those who run theses children homes. God bless you all.

12th Project - NEW SCENT ADVENT FLORA – Tala Machakos County

New Scent Advent Flora Children’s home is located in Tala, Machakos County about 95 Km’s away from Nairobi Town. The home is run by Flora Mwikali of Mobile number: 0722 732 058. New Scent has provided a home for 46 children. Mainly orphaned and abused young girls who have been abandoned. It has also provided a home for 6 family children totally orphaned and with no place to call home after society has failed to support them. Started 6 years ago, New Scent has seen a transformation of 12 girls who had lost hope in learning by seeing them join secondary schools. The home founder is hopeful that this initiative has changed the lives of these children and is a source of hope for these children.

    What next????

    We are still on.

In the next two weeks we will be focusing on two Children’s Homes.

    1. Pillars of Hope Children’s Home – Athi River 2. Mary Faith Children’s Home – Satellite

We have an overwhelming list of homes and taking a step of hope one-by-one.

Your continued support will be highly appreciated.

    Encouragement to Serve

Proverbs 11:24-25 One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

Deuteronomy 15:11"There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore, I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land."

GALATIANS 6:2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ

Philippians 4:13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength

Until next time remain blessed. You will never lack due to your generosity. God is watching from his throne in heaven.

This weekend 20th June 2020 we had the opportunity to visit Mary Faith Children’s Home - Satellite. The visit was good as always and I wish to thank the following professional colleagues for sparing their time to visit the children.

    1. Odhiambo Ooko - Captain 2. Stephine Opiyo Obong’o 3. Sellyne Adhiambo Agira 4. Rev. Daniel Akama 5. Daniel Ipael 6. Kenneth Achoki Nyadendah 7. Jairus Walemba 8. Jane Wairimu 9. Peter Ngigi 10. Hilda Ndolo

As always our prayer is that may God may continue to bless you and enlarge you abundantly. We have now lost proper words to say thank you for your efforts. To you colleagues who have consistently blessed us with your giving, may God bless you. Again we have always said that you should not shy off to bless us with even Kshs. 100 if that is what you have. Remember the story of the widow who gave only two small copper coins. Let me preach on.

Mark 12:41-44 41 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd

putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42 But a poor widow

came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. 43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said,

“Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—

all she had to live on.”

So for us the amount does not matter but the heart which gives with a thought about the little ones we are making a difference in their lives. So with that in mind remain very blessed.

we are overjoyed by your acts of generosity

Mary Faith Children’s Home is located in Satellite Nairobi – Naivasha Road off Ngong Road a few minutes’ drive from Nairobi City Centre. The home is run by Mary Faith of Mobile number: 0724 374 487. It is a home to over 40 children mainly abused young girls who have no specific place to call home due to hostility arising from childhood pregnancies. The home depends on support of well-wisher and donation from groups. It’s a hope of faith and hope for the less fortunate children who need food stuff such as unga, rice, sugar among others.

Besides the Saturday visit to Mary Faith Children’s Home - Satellite, this week was a great week for the initiative we started. Our Partnership with Bata was a great blessing not only to us but also to the children Home’s we identified for support. Our team together with Bata visited 9 Children Homes: Villa Teag Children’s Home, New Scent Advent Flora Children's Home, Mary Faith Children’s Home, Christ Chapel Children's Home, By - Grace Children’s Home, Paradise Children’s Home, Gathiga Hope Children’s Home, and Destiny Children's Home donating over 460 pairs of shoes to the children. What a blessing to all of you who have supported this initiative. What next????

    14th Project – PILLARS OF HOPE CHILDREN’S HOME –Athi-River

Pillar s of Hope Children’s Home is located in Athi-River next to Dai-Star University. The children’s home is managed by Vitalis Nyambeka of mobile number: 0721 787 167. The home has 65 children. Vitalis and his wife have 4 biological children but live in a true family set up of 65 children. The couple live together with all the 61 children and their 4 children in a full family set up. There is purely no separation of who is who. The humble couple live in a mabati walled house why they provide a nest to all the 65. A true happy family. 43 of this children are in primary school and 14 in secondary school. 3 of the children have completed high school and 2 are already in college. The home depends on well-wishers to support running the needs of this large family. It is a family to behold.

    Encouragement to Serve

1 John 4:7-8 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Romans 13:8 Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.

1 Corinthians 16:14 Let all that you do be done in love.

    Always remember this;

Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can’t help them, at least don’t hurt them.
