VBS: The Case of the Disciples’ Distinctives

June 7-11 9:00am -12:00pm

How can you help? Please pray for the planning team, all volunteers,

And the children who will be attending this event!

Volunteer forms & sign-up can be found on the Parents’ Resource Table in the narthex.

Sunday School

We are excited that our numbers are growing in Children’s Sunday School!

The time of Sunday School is 9:45-10:45.

To help keep our children safe, we would like parents to pick them up at 10:45 so that our teachers can get to the worship service on time.

Thank you for bringing your children to spend time in God’s Word!

*We are actively looking for volunteers who would like to be Sunday School teachers or on the sub list for when we have an absence. Thank you for considering!

Children’s Corner

Nursery News

Our nursery is growing! We would love your help by signing up to serve in the nursery at the Parents’ Resource Table.

Please find a couple times that wor with your family’s schedule. Adults must be a

member and have a background check on file and children ages 10-17 must serve

with an adult. Background checks are easy to do, so please call our office for assis-

tance! 706-210-9090

THANK YOU for serving in our church as it continues to grow!

Youth News

Throughout the summer, the youth will be gathering on Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 pm. In this time, we will be enjoying a meal, playing games, and participating in a Bible study together. During the summer, we will be discussing the book Don't Waste Your Life by John Piper. This book will challenge us to live for the glory of God in all things -- which is the call that God has placed on the life of each and every Christian. We are excited to begin this study!

The youth will also be gathering together at least once per month for a time of fellowship (bowling, a day at the lake, a lock-in, a game night, etc.). This will prove to be a time where we grow together in our relationships with one another.

For this summer, the youth are looking for volunteers who would be willing to provide a meal on Wednesday nights and/or to host the youth in their home for a gathering. If you are interested in hosting the youth in your home for one of these gatherings or in providing a meal for a Wednesday night, please let Ryan Bigham know at [email protected].

On March 19-21, the troop had our all-troop spring cam-pout at Aiken State Park. Adventurers taught Woodlands Trailmen how to fold a flag, use a compass, and to tie knots. On April 17, the Woodlands Trail took a hike down to the shores of the Savanah River on the Savannah River Bluff Heritage Trail.

The planned pioneering campout for April 23-25 was can-celled due to severe weather, so the troop resorted to plan “B,” Swordfest at the S.C. Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum for all things sword.

The troop, along with American Heritage Girls, as a ser-vice project, will be repairing and painting the pool deck at the Wilson Family Y before it opens for the summer.

Plans are underway for the troop Summer Adventure at Oconee State Park, June 16-22, with a day of whitewater rafting on the Chattooga River, a zip line canopy tour, and a hike to Table Rock Mountain. #openforadventure.

Trail Life Trek American Heritage Girls

Our American Heritage Girls (AHG) have been working hard on their various badges and activities. The Tender-hearts are on track to wrap up the World Languages badge this month and each recently memorized and recited 1 John 4:8b in a language that was assigned to them (Dutch, French, Spanish, Pashtu, or Chinese). One of our 7 year-old girls even recited the entire Lord's Prayer in Dutch!

The Pioneers and Patriots just finished up the Toys and Games Badge with a game drive. They will donate the pro-ceeds of that to an organization that benefits children.

At the beginning of March, our troop hosted a parents' night out for our girls to earn scholarship money for AHG camp this summer. One weekend in March we completed an Outdoor Skills Campout and Workshop, which was fun for all involved! There was even a daddy/daughter bowling night, which was a huge hit with 41 fathers and daughters participating! Bowling will definitely become one of our annual activities.

We appreciate your support of and prayers for our girls and leaders.

Missions Matters : Rick & Betty Aschmann

Rick and Betty serve in Ecuador among the Quichua Indians. Rick’s ministry focuses on leadership training, literature production, Bible translation, and church planting in the Quichua Indian language. Rick and Betty met in Ecuador in 1999 and married in 2000. Betty served with HCJB Global (Ecuador radio station) from 1992 until she married Rick. She worked in an international television production studio, producing Christian programs in Spanish for Lat-in America. She continues to produce videos on an occasional basis. After a two-year church-planting internship in Bogotá, Colombia, Rick was ordained as a pastor. In 2015, the Aschmanns returned to Ecuador to begin a new church-planting work among the Quichua Indians. Rick has also been involved in Bible translation projects in two of the Quichua languages of Ecuador to provide God’s Word in the heart language of the Quichua people. Rick and Betty Aschmann serve in Ecuador among the Quichua Indians, with their children, Anne (15) and Nathan (13). Rick’s ministry focuses on leadership training, literature production, Bible translation, and church planting in the Quichua Indian language. Prayer:

Please continue praying for our two Quichua Bible studies, that many will turn to the Lord in the evange-listic meeting and will swell our ranks long term, and for continued growth both in size and in Christian maturity for the ongoing group.

Praise God for the opportunity to share the gospel with the many new visitors each Sunday. Please continue praying for our online video project, as we continue to film and upload more teaching

videos, and that God will use these videos in the lives of many Quichuas. Please continue praying for the Jesus Film projects in Central Highland and Imbabura Quichua, that they

may be completed quickly and well, so that this tool may become available to reach the Quichuas.

Ladies Bible Study Ladies, make plans to gather this summer to study God’s Word and to draw closer to Him. Being led by Rachel Mellick, we will read through the book entitled, “Jonah, Micah, and Nahum,” by Kristofer Holroyd over 12 weeks exploring the mind and charac-ter of God and learning to make His plans relevant in our lives. We will meet every Friday morning from 9:30 until 11:30 in Covenant Hall begin-ning May 28th. Please visit myccp.faith/womens-ministries to sign up today. The study books are $6.49 each and can be paid online, by dropping pay-ment in the offering plate, or by paying at the first session. Please make checks paya-ble to Christ Church, Presbyterian.

Nursery is provided.

Music Ministry Three of our musical groups are participating in a virtual video (V21) of community and/or church youth choirs for na-tional broadcast in July: the Augusta Youth Chorale, the Celebration Singers (our church youth choir), and Christ Church Strings (our youth/children string ensemble). As the date approaches, we will advertise the broadcast.

The Augusta Youth Chorale will be in concert, Sunday, May 23, at 4:15 p.m. Come celebrate with us! A fellowship time will follow in Covenant Hall.
