Podcasting can be a very helpful tool in the classroom. Podcasting lets teachers take there students above and beyond the normal everyday assignments. Podcasting let’s students make or record voice recordings, pictures, sound effects in projects, and also makes a helpful tool for studying. These tools can not only be helpful for students but schools as well. Schools can have there own podcasts and post them on there website for students to receive information. Elementary students can perform projects on podcast, where as college students can download lectures . Podcasts have a positive effect for students because not only are they being creative but there are also learning.

I think podcasting is a very good idea. I think it gives student’s a different kind of education. It shows that you can teach your students in a creative and fun new way! I honestly have never heard of podcasting before until I had to do it for a project. The article that I got my information was very helpful in helping me understand the signifance of podcasting. "When students create a podcast for class, they not only learn the content in a creative way, they learn 21st century communication skills at the same time,“ (

Blogs make wonderful tools for teachers to post anoccuments, or even having class discussion. Other teachers use it as a grading tool, many teachers may assign an assignment and have there students turn it in on there blog! Another thing that teachers use blogs for are a helpful tool to stay in touch with students and provide an easier way of getting a hold of the student to help, such as having a chat online! (Scarlett 2006) says “ the benefits from blogging are learned by students slowly”). Blogging is very beneficial for students. It helps them find there voice in writing which usually will make the writer more comfortable. Oravec states that “blogs present a vehicle for students to develop an autobiographical Internet presence” and a “critical intellectual voice”. With all the great benefits that blogging can offer you such as an upscale education and social life they are one of the easiest things to make.

Distance learning can be used in two different ways. The first way distance learning can be used is through online classes. It allows a video feed through student and teacher interaction to actually make you feel like you are in a classroom. Distance learning can also be used inside a real live classroom for students to interact with other students across the country. This allows students to have more of a multicultural experience.

I think distance learning is a wonderful new technology to help experience difference cultures. The article did a wonderful job of describing how distance learning can be used through two different directions. I think exposing students to different cultures is important for the future. When they inter the “real world” students wont judge one another because they will have a base background on different cultures. Faculty are moving forward, technologies are improving, and student demand is increasing -- but few changes are taking place in the university structure as a whole to accommodate the special needs of the distance-learning student."- Richard Bothel, Dean of Continuing Education and Distance Learning at Troy State University

I think technology is taking over rather fast. There are so many things that we can do in the comfort of our own home! All the technologies that I have mentioned here are technologies you can use at home or in the classroom, that what all of them have in common. The technologies I have mentioned in this power point I think will be used in education for many years to come!
