Whether you’re moving to a new country to work, starting a new life abroad, or sending your children abroad to study, our international services can help you in many countries and territories worldwide.

If you’re considering a move overseas, we may be able to make sure your financial needs are taken care of in your new country. We could help set up your account before you arrive, and ensure your finances are transferred. This is subject to local terms and conditions and receipt of correctly completed account opening documentation.

The services available depend on the country you are going to, your needs, and whether you are an HSBC Premier customer. Where appropriate, we may also be able to set up an offshore bank account through HSBC Expat.

Whilst banking offshore may have tax benefits for you, tax rules differ from country to country. If you are unsure about your personal tax obligations, you should seek professional advice. It is your responsibility to disclose your income to the tax authorities.

If you’re considering a move overseas, we may be able to make sure your financial needs are taken care of in your new country. We could help set up your account before you arrive, and ensure your finances are transferred. This is subject to local terms and conditions and receipt of correctly completed account opening documentation.

The International Banking centre is available to all HSBC Premier customers, to act as a centre of expertise for customers with international account opening needs.

In the UK, HSBC Premier is available to you, as long as you pay your annual income into your HSBC Premier Bank Account and either:

® have savings or investments of at least £50,000 with HSBC in the UK; or

® have an individual annual income of at least £75,000 and one of the following products with HSBC in the UK:

• a mortgage;

• an investment, life insurance or protection product;

or, qualify for HSBC Premier in another country.

If you are a Non-Resident Premier customer meeting the eligibility criteria, we can offer you a Relationship Management service. They are specifically trained to address and facilitate the financial needs of our International customers.

In the UK, HSBC Premier and the HSBC Premier Bank Account is provided by HSBC UK Bank plc.

For eligiblity purposes HSBC in the UK excludes M&S Bank, First Direct and HSBC Expat. For the second criteria, in the case of a joint account, at least one of the parties must have an individual annual income of at least £75,000. The investment, life insurance or protection products also include those purchased through one of HSBC’s advisers.

Moving overseas with HSBCPremier international service

As an HSBC Premier customer, you’ll receive exceptional service and preferential rates and terms on a selected range of products and services.

With access to a relationship management service, at home and in the new country, as well as 24/7 telephone and internet banking*1.

Take a look at some of these international services which are available in many countries and territories worldwide:

® If you already qualify as an HSBC Premier customer in the UK, you will automatically receive the HSBC Premier service and all its benefits in your new country, if it is available. (HSBC Premier service is not available in every country)

® Where available we can get your overseas HSBC Premier account up and running before you leave for your new country and dispatch cards, cheque books and PIN numbers for your new overseas account within 10 working days of account opening (subject to local terms and conditions and receipt of correctly completed account opening documentation)

® Access to credit cards with similar limits to those you currently enjoy with HSBC in the UK (subject to status (creditworthiness assessment), local laws and terms and conditions)

® Use your UK HSBC Premier Debit Card to make cash machine withdrawals. Wherever you are in the world, we won’t charge you cash fees (cash machine transaction fees), however some cash machine operators may apply a direct charge for withdrawals from their cash machines which they should tell you about on screen before you withdraw any money. We’ll charge you a non-sterling (foreign transaction) fee, currently 2.75% of the sterling amount of the transaction

® We will undertake an International Needs Review with you before you move to help make sure all your banking needs are covered

® When you get to your new country, we will contact you to make sure all your banking facilities are running smoothly

® We can arrange to introduce you to our expat banking specialists, based at HSBC Expat, where appropriate.

Manage your money online with Global ViewWith HSBC Premier you can view most of your HSBC accounts around the world on one screen and manage your money from one single internet login via HSBC’s Global View.

Our Global Transfer service allows you to transfer funds between your HSBC Premier accounts using Global Transfers within Global View with no additional charge. (Global Transfers are not available in all countries).
