About My Korean Certificate Centre Korean regulations require all HSBCnet clients issuing electronic payments or term deposits from an account domiciled in Korea (Korean account) to digitally sign the instruction. My Korean Certificate Centre (My KCC) facilitates the digital signing of your HSBCnet transactions for compliance with Korean regulations.

What is Financial Supervisory Service compliance? Financial transactions made by HSBC Korean customers, must be digitally signed using certificates that comply with Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) regulations. Under the Korean National Public Key Infrastructure (NPKI), certificates can only be issued by the six Certificate Authorities (CAs) licensed by the Korean Information Security Agency (KISA). The six licensed CAs are:

• Korean Securities Computer Corporation (KOSCOM)

• Korea Information Certificate Authority (KICA)

• Korea Financial Telecommunications & Clearings (KFTC)

• National Computerization Agency (NCA)

• Korea Electronic Certificate Authority (KECA)

• Korea Trade Network (KTNET)

HSBC acts as a Registration Authority and uses KFTC to issue corporate certificates to customers. However, in accordance with FSS guidelines, HSBC also accepts corporate certificates issued by any of the six licensed CAs, subject to registration for use with HSBCnet. Likewise, HSBC issued certificates are accepted by other financial services providers in Korea.

What is a Digital Certificate? A digital certificate is an electronic document that establishes your credentials when doing business or other transactions on the web. Digital certificates are issued by a certificate authority and contain the certificate holder's name, certificate expiration date, copy of the certificate holder's public key, and the digital signature of the certificate-issuing authority so that a recipient can verify that the certificate is real. Some digital certificates conform to a standard such as X.509.

Before you begin To do business in Korea, your company must first apply to the Korean Government for a Business Registration Number (BRN). Once approved, your company receives a Business Registration Certificate that includes the business registration number for the company. The Business Registration Certificate is a mandatory legal document that your company must present to open a bank account and an HSBCnet profile domiciled in Korea.

Transactions requiring Korean certificates The following transaction types require signed certificates when made from a Korean account.

Payments Appropriate digitally-signed certificates are required for transactions made from Korean accounts for the following payment types.

• Priority Payments

• Inter-account transfer

• Customer transfer (for financial institutions only)

• Bank-to-bank transfer (for financial institutions only)

• ACH Credit/Debit

If a digitally-signed certificate is required, the Digital Signing dialog box appears when you click Authorise. Select your digital certificate from this window, enter your password and click OK. If the password is verified, the payment instruction is sent along with a digitally-signed certificate.

Bulk authorisation of payments

In bulk authorisation where more than one instruction is submitted, only one digital signature is necessary. Payment instructions requiring multiple authorisations will require a digital signature at each stage of authorisation.

Authorising Restricted Templates

When authorising a restricted template where the debit account is a Korean account, you do not need a digital certificate. However, if you are authorising a payment created using a restricted template with a Korean debit account, you will need to digitally sign the transaction even if your company follows sole transaction control.

File Upload Appropriate digitally-signed certificates are required when authorising payments using the File Upload tool made from Korean accounts.

If your company is assigned a BRN you will see the Digital Signing Indicator or Digital Signing dialog box for all pre-authorised File Upload payments regardless of where the debit account is domiciled. If you submit a File Level Authorisation (FLA) instruction that debits a Korean account, you require an appropriate digitally-signed certificate when authorising that instruction. The Digital Signing Indicator appears in the File Upload tool under the Reports and Files Download tab.

Note: Do not select the Digital Signing Indicator box if your file does not contain any transactions debiting a Korean account.

All file formats are only validated after Digital Signing Indicator is selected. An error message appears if a file instruction involving a Korean resident account is not digitally-signed.

Time Deposits Appropriate digitally-signed certificates are required for Time Deposit instructions that debit a Korean account, regardless of currency, with the following criteria:

• The debit account for new deposits is a Korean account
