Heating the Screen Assembly
Using a heat gun or hair dryer we can now heat the front of the screen assembly. Focus the heat on the outside edges for about 30 seconds on medium heat.
Removing the Touch Screen Digitizer
With the adhesive warmed, use a nylon spudger or pry tool to begin releasing the adhesive holding the glass touch screen to the front housing. We suggest starting near the top, by the ear speaker mesh.
With the adhesive released, begin lifting the glass screen from the device. Be careful as the digitizer flex cable still needs to be fed through the slot in the housing to fully remove.
Removing the LCD Screen - 1
If removing the LCD screen, heat the areas located in the image using a heat gun or hair dryer. The adhesive holding the LCD is very strong, so be sure it is heated thoroughly – normally taking around 30-45 seconds on medium heat

Removing the LCD Screen - 2
With the back of the LCD screen properly warmed, use a nylon spudger and pry tool to lift the LCD screen from the frame. This process may take some time and extra heat.
LCD Screen Differences
Be sure your new replacement LCD is the correct one. This Evo 4G uses the “wide flex” version
Applying Adhesive to the Touch Screen
If replacing the touch screen, apply fresh adhesive to the screen in the locations shown. Be sure to not cover any sensor or camera holes with adhesive.
Assembling the Screens
Place the LCD screen back into the housing, being sure the flex cable is fully inserted through the slot in the housing.
Peel the adhesive from the touch screen and feed its flex cable through the housing. Align the touch screen over the housing and press it firmly in place, being sure there is no slack in the flex cable
Reassembling the Front Housing
Insert the front camera back into its hole and press its flex cable firmly back onto the housing.
Now attempt to place the digitizer flex cable back onto the housing in the exact same location as originally put.
*You may test its location by placing the motherboard over it and being sure it aligns with its jaw connector.
Reassembling the Motherboard
Place the motherboard over the front housing and re-insert all 3 flex cables into their jaw connectors. Be sure they are fully inserted. Flip the jaw into the closed position.
Reassembling the Motherboard
Replace the small Phillips screw located in the top right of the motherboard.
Place the power button and volume button back onto the frame, insuring they click correctly.
Secure the Back Housing
Align the red housing over the device and press it firmly until it clips into place around all sides.
