Healing of the Human Kind Date: 08/21/08 Pre-Debridement Wound Size: 2.0cm x 2.3cm x .3cm Patient History Patient is a 51 year old IDDM female, 200 lbs, 5’6 who presents to my office with a CC ulcer to the lateral aspect of the right foot. Diagnosis Chronic non-healing ulcer lateral aspect right foot present for approximately 3 months duration. Ulcer measures 2.0cm x 2.3cm x 0.3cm. Base of ulcer consists of mixed granular and fibrotic tissue with signs of infection noted. Wound Treatment & Outcome Patient was worked up for osteomyelitis via serial radiographs and MRI with/without contrast, both of which were negative. Culture & sensitivity was performed during initial visit. Infection was treated accordingly via oral antibiotic. 4 Dermagraft applications, including debridements were performed on a weekly basis resulting in full closure of the wound. Proper offloading modality consisting of TCC was used in conjunction with optimal nutritional supplementation.
