Project summaryThe project enables children and communities to learn about their heritage (which the WW1 centenary provides) – through engagement in a comprehensive programme of activities, culminating in a commemoration event where a school playing field will be designated as Peace Field.

The project focuses on the contribution of soldiers and their families in Kent and the role sport has played in bringing nations together. Participating children will be given the unique opportunity to research former pupils and staff from the WW1 period, building connections with those who played games on the very school field they play games on today.

Project activities are fun and engaging and schools will have access to local library resources, museums, university expertise, workshops, guest speakers and experts who will support them throughout. Completed projects will be added to historical records and project websites, as well as exhibitions and media, so the whole community can learn more about their heritage.
