Celebr8 is now in its fourth year. It is a North West regional campaign to promote recognition of the importance of diversity as an economic, cultural and social asset. Celebr8 is supported by the Northwest Development Agency, Government Office North West, 4NW, The Equality and Human Rights Commission, North West Improvement and Efficiency Partnership and NW Together We Can.

Woven Cultures is the Celebr8 2009/10 arts programme. We have developed Woven Cultures as part of the North West programme for the UK Wide Cultural Olympiad.

We are inviting proposals for arts projects for the Woven Cultures Celebr8 Programme which really make people think about the equality challenges we still face and why diversity is important to the North West. What we are looking for

The successful projects must

Be led by a North West based arts organisation(s), which is recognised for artistic excellence and has a strong track record in equality and diversity.

Involve communities in the design and delivery or the project Reach a large and diverse audience Relate to one or more of the 9 equalities strands - Sexual Orientation,

Transgender, Age, Faith, Gender, Disability, Race, Asylum seekers/refugees, Socio-economic disadvantage

Meet the three core values and three of the seven themes of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

Take place in one or more of the North West sub regions (Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside). We will support at least one project in each sub region

We expect to make at least 5 grants of up to £10000. The funding must be allocated and spent before 31 March 2010.

Funding may be given for a new project or to significantly enhance an existing project.

This programme is being planned in partnership with the Cultural Olympiad in the North West. We plan to showcase highlights from the successful projects in the region as part of the London 2012 Open weekend 23rd – 25th July 2010. We will be applying for a London 2012 Inspire Mark for Woven Cultures to be part of the UK wide Cultural Olympiad. Please see guidance on the Cultural Olympiad in the North West.

This programme is funded by NWDA and GONW.

Timetable

The deadline for receipt of applications is 12 midnight on Friday 11 December 2009. Please submit electronically.

A decision will be made at a judging panel of regional partners. We may contact you by telephone for further points of clarification.

Successful applicants will be notified in the week beginning 4th January 2010.

Conditions of grant allocation

All successful applicants must provide:

A short (four page maximum) summary evaluation report of their activity An electronic photo of their project, suitable for production in an evaluation

brochure Participation in follow up evaluation requests

All must use Celebr8 branding, and work with NWDA and GONW to produce a press release prior to the event.

Woven Cultures Celebr8 2009/10 Arts Application Form (max 6 sides of A4)

4. Which of the nine equality categories does your application relate to (can be more than one) – please see section above

5. In which sub region(s) will your planned activity take place (please note we intend to fund at least one event/activity in each sub region).

6. Please describe your proposed project. Please include intended activity and the people/communities that you will involve. Please tell us how you plan to publicise your programme and the size of audience you expect to reach

7. Please detail the intended goals of your project. Please show how the proposal links to the aims of Celebr8 and the core values and themes of the Cultural Olympiad. (see above and attached Cultural Olympiad guidance)

8. Organisations can apply for up to a maximum of £10,000. Please tell us how much you wish to apply for, and detail what the money will be spent on.

9. Can you confirm that if you are successful that the funding would be spent by 31 March 2010?

10.Please confirm that all publicity associated with your project and produced by you will reference Celebr8 funding, and that you will use our official logo?

11.Please confirm that you will provide a short report (including suitable electronic photograph/s) of your project, provide a summary evaluation report and take part in any post event evaluation as required. Let us know what parts of the project could be suitable for a July showcase
