TripstoartmuseumsandartclassesincollegelaidthefoundationforPeters’interestinwhatwastobecomehispassionandcareer.Incollege,hebeganpaintingseriously;aprofessor,whowasalsoasuccessfulcommercialillustrator,acknowledgedandfosteredPeters’talentandpotential.Withadesireforacareerincommercialart,theartistwasfortunatetohaveamentorwhoeducatedhiminthevariouscomponentsofthebusi-ness.TheyoungPeterssoonbeganmakingalivingworkingwithwellknownadvertisingandpublishingcompaniesinNewYorkwithouthavingtolivethere.Petersthrivedinthebusinessandhisworkwasindemand.Duringthistime,hejoinedtheSocietyofIllustrators.

Duringhissuccessfulcommercialartcareer,PetersandhiswifemovedtoColoradoandlivedonaranchwheretheybredandraisedshowhorses.Thisrewardinglifebroughtnewpurposetohistalentasanartist.Hebeganpaintingthehorsestheylovedandthewesternlandscape.Petersfeltcompelledtopaintfull-timeandquitcommercialart,andhisfineartcareerasalandscapepainterwasbroughttolife.

NowsettledbackinArizonawithhisfamily,Peterspaintsinaspaciousstudionexttohishome.Majesticmountainvistasandhisownhorsepasturecontributetohismanyinspiredmomentsattheeasel.Theartistalsoventuresintothenaturalworldhesolovedasaboytoview,contemplate,makenotes,andsketchanimagethathewilltakebacktohisstudiowhereitwillcomealiveonhiscanvas.AddsPeters,“Ifsomethingisinoneofmypaintings,I’vebeenthereandexperiencedit.”

Petershasexhibitedatseveralvenues,includingthePrixdeWestInvitationalandtheAutryMuseum,andhisworkisshownattheNationalMuseumofWildlifeArtandthePhippenMuseum.Hisworkalsohasbeenfeaturedinnumerousmagazinearticles.

obertPetershasspenthislifelivinginandabsorbingallthattheWestanditsmagnificentland-scapesoffer.Theartiststates,“Myworkisgroundedinmyearliestpersonalimpressions.”Asachild,PetersgrewupinArizona,andheremembersfondlyfamilytripsthatallowedhimtohike,fish,andhuntinthewildandwondrouslandscapesofsouthwesternColorado.Intheseearlyyears,theartistwasjusthappytoenjoytheexperienceofbeingoutdoorsandeagertotakeinallthatnatureoffers.
