INVITATION

John 6:35 “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be

hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

Jesus did not come to help you get what you want. Jesus came to

be what we want.

CONFESSION AND PARDON: Merciful Savior, you are the

bread of life, our Redeemer and Sustainer, the one in whom we find forgiveness and grace. Yet

we confess that too often we look elsewhere for that which will sustain us. We trust the

Security of intellect or jobs or relationships rather than the

security of your unfailing love. We invest our time and energy in building our bank

accounts and retirement portfolios rather than in

pursuing the priorities of your

Kingdom – justice, an end to poverty and violence, feeding the

hungry, caring for the disadvantaged and marginalized.

Forgive us, we pray. Give us eyes to see the needs of this

world as you see them. Lift our gaze beyond ourselves to the

cares of our neighbors.

Empower us to love boldly, forgive radically and believe with abandon. Because of

Jesus we pray. Amen.

All pray in silence.

Assurance of Forgiveness:Assurance of Forgiveness:

Leader: Jesus says, “I am the bread of life. Whoever believes has eternal life.”

People: In Jesus Christ we In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Hallelujah! are forgiven. Hallelujah! Amen.Amen.

Leader:Leader:

On the night in which he gave himself up for us he took the bread, gave thanks to you,

broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said:

“Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you. Do this in

remembrance of me.” When the supper was over, He took the

cup, gave thanks to you, gave it to His disciples, and said:

Leader:Leader:

“Drink from this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant,

poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in

remembrance of me.”

Leader:Leader:

And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus

Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving as a

redeemed by his blood. *By your Spirit, make us one with Christ, one with each other, and one in ministry to all the world,

until Christ comes in final victory,
