Overview• Hulu is an online video service offering a selection

of hit shows, clips, movies and trailers. • Offers subscription service, Hulu Plus for faster

access to shows and movies. • Hulu brings together a selection of videos from

over 260 content companies.• Hulu videos are played in their own embeddable

branded player. Content from at least a dozen TV networks and two major film studios is promised. Initial distribution partners include AOL, Comcast, MSN, MySpace and Yahoo.

Creator and History • Jason Kilar serves as the CEO of Hulu,

LLC, an online video joint venture of News Corp and NBC Universal.

• Jason joined Hulu after nearly a decade of experience at Amazon.com where he served in a variety of key leadership roles.

• Jason began his career with The Walt Disney Company, where he worked for Disney Design & Development. He received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he studied Business Administration and Journalism & Mass Communication.

Purpose• Hulu allows users to enjoy great videos on

Hulu.com and on many other popular sites across the Web. Hulu videos are available on Yahoo!, MSN, AOL, IMDb and TV Guide, as well as a growing network of personal blogs, fan sites and other sites where users choose to embed the Hulu video player.

• Additionally, Hulu Plus subscribers can access content across PCs, internet-connected TVs, set-top boxes, gaming consoles and mobile phones and tablets.

How is it used in Education, Home and Business?

Business:Like the broadcast television business, Hulu depends on revenue from its sponsors so it can provide video free of charge. Hulu splits its ad revenue with the site's content providers and distribution partners

Education and Home:We’re already using video that we’re finding for free from other sites, but having to go through the hassle of downloading it (YouTube, Vimeo, etc), converting it and/or putting it somewhere on the network where it can only be accessed at school. Many teachers have highly trafficked websites for their classrooms, which students and parents are using regularly. The website-ready, embeddable-friendly, search-able database of the on demand Hulu video library might be something is worth exploring. Overall, Hulu makes catching up on TV shows and movies easy and accessible. Now we can learn from home as well as in classrooms.

Article #1: According to the Chicago Tribune, Hulu is a desirable prospect for Apple Inc. An anonymous source from Apple leaks that they are considering making an offer for Hulu which would extend online video service even more. If Apple were to take on Hulu, Netflix would face a severe challenge with customers.

Article #2: According to the Washington Post, Hulu.com is a remarkable site that offers free, ad-supported online streaming. It allows for mobile watching on PCs, smartphones, TVs, and other portable devices. Hulu offers over 105 million stream options within the first to years of its creation. This live video web is taking off and many companies like Apple and Google are making offers.

Under the direction of the Head of Communications, this position will support the entire communications team at Hulu. This role will assist with the execution of public relations campaigns and events. The PR Coordinator role requires a strong degree of multitasking, a sharp focus for details, an ability to find the humor in chaos and an innate sense of urgency to promptly respond to team and media requests. The PR Coordinator must be clever, thoughtful and tenacious. He/she must have a passion for our industry and the business of communications, a “can-do” attitude and a hunger to master the basics of PR/Communication field.
