Introduction:

• Unfortunately,many form of gender voilence are not even recognized as voilence in our society .But,what perhaps is even more frightening is that in Pakistan certain social customs or traditions justify the act of torture and voilence against women with the sense of righteous pride the worst of such custom is that of so, called Honour Killing in the accusation of illicit relation women and men or murdered .Although women from the majority victim.According to the human rights commission of Pakistan (HRCP).Honour Killing against women increasing day by day. Method of caring out Honour Killing across the country .In Sindh Honour Killing known as Karo(man) Kari (women) murder with axe or shoot in.Punjab Kala Kali usually by shooting and in NWFP and Balochistan they burn or shoot buried them without “coffin” and “bath”.

“Karo kari tradition, Or so called honour killings karo kari”:• Sindh:According to the majority of women and men said that this custom

has come from Balochistan but its origin can be traced back to the Arabs settler had remained dominated in Balochistan name of the tribal was Balos then Baloch.

• Punjab: This custom came in Punjab through Balochistan according to the researcher.

• NWFP:According to the book researcher interviewed team,”This custom Tor Tora has been practiced since the birth of Pathan and will continued until his death”. And some people said that this custom came in NWFP through the Hindus women had no real status according to the letter's belief.Barbarity in the name of Honour Killing because of men dominant society ,thoso people think that women has vain honour women are viewed and treated as personal property instead of human being .Women has no rights to live in freely take breath in fresh air as their males are even as cattle can do their on will.

Causes of karo kari:

• Illiteracy.• Child marriages.• Family feuds.• To usurp women's share of inhentance.• Wata sata (exchange of women in marriage between two families).• Wadero shahi ,Choudhry, Khan ,and Sardars.• Poverty.• Male dominancy.• Zan,Zar,Zamin.• Love marriages.• Property.• Taana(accusation)”if some one is sitting in public place and gets into a

fight where he is told “first go and put your own house in order”.

Age limit and gender:

• There is no age limits to become a victim of Honour Killing. They could be innocent girls or boys to grandmothers or grandfathers.

Panah (refuge):

• In Sindh the most notifiable trained is that women usually do not survive by some chance .She does managed to survive the influential local Wadero (Sindhi feudal lord) or go to Pir (Spiritual leader) or go to Chango Murras (respectable person of the community).

• In Punjab two options Chaudhry, Malik or Pir.

• In NWFP no chance for refuge such women rarely escape to death.

• In Balochistan it is noticed that such women go to Sardars.

Decision and Punishment by Jirgah, Panchayet or Fassilo:

• In Sindh and Balochistan:In certain areas of Sindh and other the place of Balochistan the decision takes place at Sardar or Wadero's ottaq. Now it has almost become a business where the Wadero takes 5% or 10% commission for his personal expenditure and reserve the right to sell off the woman or keep them in kot.

• OR

• Decided to pay huge amount 2 lac rupees from opposition in the form of Khoon Baha (Blood money) or girl in the iwaz(compensation with forum of girl or money) (chatti) OR (mach char).

Decision and Punishment by Jirgah, Panchayet or Fassilo:

• In Punjab: In some localities of Punjab ,besides the Sardar, Choudhry or Pir , local influential often make decisions after hearing the witnesses and respective parties are compelled to accept these decision after hearing as they are mostly load less .Former filling the Sardars lands.For decision is last if any body will disobey the Pir’s order is viewed as an unforgivable sin. Therefore people accept there decision without questions.

• In NWFP: In cases when a man and a woman are found in compromising position , they both killed instantly and later both sides are reconciled by the jirga ,which decides how much fine the killer must pay and this range from three to twenty thousand rupees. In case of poor family they may provide Swara (a woman given in exchange to the aggrieved party ) they don’t take money except to cover cost of feeding.

Preventive measures:

• Honour Killing should be treated as now compoundable offence.• In cases of Honour Killing fassilo (wadero

decision) ,jirga ,panchayat, pir decision should be declared unlawful.• Any compensation against Karo Kari should be declared illegal, if

some one Violence the law ,he/she should get strict penalties or punishment.

• Promote literacy rate and should arranged awareness seminar regarding Karo Kari.

• Electronic media can play vital role against Karo Kari.• Shelter houses should be established by the government and civil

society organization to protect women blamed Karo Kari at all over country.

• Police should be required to properly register and investigate all complains of Honour Killings and other forms of domestic voilence.
